Neighborhood news: Pay it forward
Published: November 20, 2009
During the first two months of the school year, students at Beville Middle School had gotten off to a great start in serving their community, both locally and internationally.
Students in the Pay it Forward Club made the first of their four planned trips to the Homeless Prevention Center in October. Twelve students and their faculty helpers prepared dinner and transported it by school bus to the shelter, where they shared the meal with the residents. Future trips to the center will be open to all Beville students. In their recently completed Pennies for Peace drive, also sponsored by the Pay it Forward Club, students donated more than $80 in change to benefit school building projects in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Students also actively participated in the Operation Turkey canned food collection and donated more than 600 canned goods and boxes of nonperishable food.
Thank you to the students of Beville for their service to our Dale City community and for being a wonderful example to all of us.
