Police investigate double shooting in Dale City
Police are searching for two gunmen who forced their way into a Dale City home late Friday and shot two men.
The victims, one 25 years old and the other 33, suffered life-threatening injuries and were flown by helicopter to local trauma centers after the 11:20 p.m. attack in the 14700 block of Elmira Court in Dale City, said Prince William County police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
Police were called to the house in the Darbydale section of Dale City at 11:23 p.m. for a report of a shooting in progress. Hernandez said the gunmen kicked open the front door of the house, ordered everyone inside onto the floor and shot the two victims.
The culprits are still on the loose. One is described as black with reddish hair and freckles. The other was also black and has a goatee and sideburns.
Hernandez said it appears the victims and the gunmen knew each other.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police at 703-792-6500 or Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700. Callers don’t have to give their names, just the information. Tips leading to arrest could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Never question why I carry a gun in my own home! www.4permits.com
Thank God the victims are still alive! I just pray that this experience has only impacted them in a more positive than negative way as sad as this event is. Some of our most wonderful motivational speakers have been through “senseless” things like this which have turned out to be some sort of a blessing in disguise and I can only hope the same for this situation. I find it sadly humorous that people are still treating this area as though it were a real “hood”. Some of these criminals are soft as kittens. I have grown up here and have seen just about everything there is to see around PWC. I’ve been in quiet and loud neighborhoods….I have all kinds friends all over this town. I have witnessed crime and the way PW’s finest has dealt with it. I agree with the neighborhood watches and reporting activities because I myself do not want those type of things going on in my neighborhood where my children live. However, there is one thing I notice most neighborhoods fail to do that I have found to be more effective. That is talking to the people you are not please with as neighbors. As crazy as that may seem you would be surprised at how many of those people in your neighborhood can be really friendly and understanding and respectful if you just talk to them. I know not every situation is worth a talking. It won’t always work and I know it’s not easy for everyone to do. I wish I could give a class called “Talking to your neighbors 101”. What happened to Loving thy neighbor? Do not judge lest ye’ be judged? You don’t have to be religious to know that these concepts generally have far better outcomes.
I happen to know these victims and care for them dearly. I am in no way affiliated with drugs or gangs and do not condone those type of activities whatsoever. Nor do I truly know the circumstances surrounding what happened to them. But I can personally tell you, I’ve known them for years and one in particular is as sweet as can be and a gentleman. If any of their neighbors had an issue with them I hope they spoke to them and got to know them. They might not be your ideal type of person or neighbor but creating a better neighborhood begins with communicating and working together because a perfect neighbor is not always going to happen. You yourself might be a nuisance to your neighbor and you don’t even know it. Whether you care or not is up to you. I just hope we can get out of this stereotypical thinking and rebuild better communities throughout PWC TOGETHER. If all we’re doing is complaining and yelling then I doubt anybody is really listening. Who wants to hear that?
I really do hope that PW’s finest is doing everything they can to catch the shooters. I agree there isn’t as much coverage on this as all the other cases that have been going on. That could be for any amount of reasons and I’m sure people have already made up their minds as to why. Even I have my own hunches. The point is, those people are still out there and this case needs to be solved just as quickly as any other case.
WOW (ECONOMY09) I LIKE HOW YOU TALK AND THAT IS SO RIGHT EVERYTHING THAT YOU SAID, HOW CAN IT BE THERE FAULT IF SOMEONE IS DERANGED. THE PEOPLE INSIDE WERE ALMOST KILLED AND EVERYONE INCLUDING THE POLICE ARE TREATING THEM LIKE THEY ARE THE CRIMINAL, WHAT.
OK, I am so tired of the fact that when something bad happens to someone everyone jumps the gun and SWEARS “oh it was gang activity, or Drug Related”. Damn….we see what go through your minds or what type of stuff you are involved in, 2 Men got injured just trying to live…..EVERYONE does not participate in that kind of criminal activity, Look at the Economy, and where this crime took place, DALE CITY ok,,,,,,is it someones fault that someone wants to take things from other People because they cant get what ever they want on their own? Heck No! Can you stop a person from doing crime, NOPE can you say when someone will rob you or steal your car, NOPE so why is it a problem, that these young men got injured because of someone elses bull crap, it was not their fault…...Find out the facts before you put your bull crap out thoughts out there or better yet check your own home turf, because 9 out of 10 the same crap you yapping about, is going on around you or in your OWN household Yeah Ok, If you knew that these young men were College graduates just moving into that community, Did you think about that, Nope because all you know is negativity, You are not living in Hollywood People This is Dale City - Go Figure if you do a Google Search or keep up with the news you will realize this type of Bullcrap happens in this area on the constant!
A question for Dale City residents,Where is the closest PWC police station to where this criminal activity took place?
(sissy) you make a lot of sense and now i have a better understanding but there are things done and said that made me say what i said, this case is far from over and i am going to stay on top of it for personal reasons and when its solved we can move on with our lives.i am glad i commented and got some answers that i wasnt expecting so thank God for this site!! I am very concerned and i pray that these people are found and convicted and if there’s questions to be asked I WILL ASK!!!! THANK YOU AGAIN.
Does the Potomac News actually report the news over the weekend?? I am confused no new stories over the weekend??? What a joke of a paper although it has gotten better with Gary Jacobsen gone. LOL Chris Cummings
The only thing that I am going to say is that there is more information to the story. The potomac newss probably doesn’t have those details yet. It sounds like alot of people here have a blurred view of what actually happened.
Factually speaking… The procedure for victims and all possible suspects in custody is to ensure that they are medically treated if needed and stable… (some people refuse if deemed alert and oriented) police then retreat to police station or substation for questioning, interviewing by appropriate personnel (usually detectives) However, the hunt or search continues by shift police and others as called in and as possible leads develop. If their is a hot lead they pursue immediately ... If it is cold they must investigate further. If they are getting nonsense or statements that just don’t add up’ they are not going to re-act.
Profiling… I do not follow this in this particular case as stated, but would like to understand the comment.
It is very important to police and the administration to capture such criminals as soon as possible. Much kudos (to say the least) is at hand wouldn’t you say? I am not sure I buy into police intentionally letting a lead go cold or not actively going about with their duty… Unless they have their hand in some dirty business where personal gain is to be had. Not saying all police officers are clean (for sure) however, you are talking about a whole bunch of them being derelict of duty and facing charges of their own.
Yes, unfortunately homes get ransacked in the process of investigation of a crime scene. It’s a price we pay as well for criminal activity… And I agree that this story so far ... May ultimately provide the community a story of crime abundantly found within this home as well ... But shootings are never justified in criminal activity.
YOU’RE RIGHT DRUGS ARE USUALLY INVOLVED BUT NOT ALWAYS AND WHEN THE POLICE SAY THAT IT SEEMS THE CASE NEVER GETS SOLVED SO IN THIS CASE AND ALOT OTHERS JUSTICE HAS NOT HAPPEN BECAUSE THEY BLOW IT OFF.
