The Winwood Children's Center in Gainesville is holding a fall festival aimed at offering family fun and supporting a good cause.
The center's Halloween Fall Festival is scheduled for Oct. 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and is open to the pub-lic.
Kids are invited to wear costumes and there will be games, prizes and food.
For admission, kids are asked to bring one bag of candy to donated to the Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Kindergarten students from the Winwood Children's Center will be visiting residents at the nursing home and will bring the candy to them, said Dana Bryan, assistant director at the Winwood Children's Center.
"The activities director said it's absolutely wonderful for the children to visit residents there," Bryan said.
Both the kindergarteners and the nursing home residents are looking forward to their upcoming visit, Bryan said.
"This is a brand new thing we're doing. We think it will benefit our kindergarteners while doing some-thing for the community," she said. "We wanted the children to understand intergenerational differ-ences and to experience doing something for the community."
The Halloween Fall Festival will be held at Winwood Children's Center, 7830 Old Linton Hall Road in Gainesville.
