Sport&Health buys World Gym

Sport&Health has announced its purchase of the former World Gym retail space at 7500 Limestone Drive in Gainesville.

The 15,000-square-foot club includes state of the art cardiovascular conditioning equipment, circuit strength training, free weights, group exercise studios, indoor cycling and Juiced Smoothie Bar, in addition to other health and fitness offerings.

The acquisition is part of Sport&Health's aggressive multi-year campaign to grow and improve its network of health and fitness clubs throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

"We have been exploring the Gainesville submarket the last year in search of an opportunity to fill our footprint," said president and COO Mark Fisher. "With clubs in Woodbridge, Dale City, Stafford and Fredericksburg, operating in the Gainesville area makes perfect sense to complete our service area."

Existing members of the fitness club may receive membership options for use of Sport&Health's 23 locations. Effective immediately, hours will be extended and trademark Sport&Health group exercise and personal training will be offered.

The club will also undergo a "facelift" to further incorporate its unique branding proposition.

Since 1973, the firm has grown to be Washington's largest family of full-service clubs and day spas with its locations in Virginia, Maryland and D.C.
