Tall Oaks Community Center in Lake Ridge will be a busy place this weekend, as the "Fall Festival" is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event is sponsored by LRPRA, and there will be fun activities for the children, and lots of tables of items from vendors and crafters.

Children can be in the costume contest and parade, bring a pre-carved pumpkin for the jack-o-lantern judging, or have fun with other games. There will be food, prizes, and lots of outdoor activities going on at the festival.

Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association has a "Fantasy Playground Rededication Ceremony" planned for noon, during the festival and the community as well as any of those volunteers and workers who helped with making the playground a reality back in 1989 are invited to this ceremony. There will be cake and balloons.

Plenty of Halloween fun scheduled for Occoquan

Activities in Occoquan on Oct. 31 include the Children's Harvest Parade and Fall Festival, sponsored by Occoquan Merchants Association.

Gather for the parade at the lot near the Va. 123 bridge at 11:30 a.m. The parade begins at noon. Children, with their parents can come in costume and march in the parade. Dogs can be in the parade, too!

Pumpkin decorating, face painting, and other fun things will be going on in town until 5 p.m.

Garden Club to meet

The Garden Club of Lake Ridge meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Tall Oaks Community Center on Cotton Mill Drive in Lake Ridge. All who are interested are invited to attend, and a flower arranging demonstration will be given by a floral designer. A $5 donation is requested, to help with the cost of this program.
