The Manassas Museum will host two authors in December who will relate interesting facts about Clifton and introduce an acclaimed new young adults book during presentations and book signings.

Author Lynne Garvey-Hodge uses photographs from a multitude of sources to paint a timeline of Clifton's history in her book, "Images of Clifton."

The town's history begins with its purchase by Englishmen in 1710, includes a role in the Civil War and features a more modern name change.

Garvey-Hodge said she was able to acquire many of the photos from her town neighbors, some of whom have lived in Clifton for generations. Area residents will enjoy the histories of Clifton churches, schools, buildings and people.

She will speak at 2 p.m. Dec. 6.

World War II may be ending, but for the heroic 19-year-old pilot in L. M. Elliott's new book, "A Troubled Peace," coming home to Virginia has not eased his worries. The book, a young adult sequel to "Under a War-Torn Sky," follows Henry Forester as he returns home after escaping from the Nazis. Forester can not escape worrying about the French boy who aided him and so returns to France at war's end, determined to find him but stunned by the destruction of war.

The author of several award-winning novels for young adults, she will address a gathering Dec. 13 at 2 p.m.
