An elderly woman suffered fatal injuries in a Tuesday evening crash on Va. 234 in Manassas.

It happened about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hastings Drive, city police Sgt. Tim Neumann said. A 1994 Buick Regal turning left from Va. 234 struck a 1993 Honda Accord head on, he said.

The Honda’s passenger, 81-year-old Crystella Brown of Penny Lane in Manassas suffered fatal injuries and died after the crash.

Police charged the Buick’s driver, 67-year-old Loretta Montgomery of Butternut Circle in Manassas, with reckless driving for failing to yield right-of-way at the intersection, Neumann said.

If the accused was charged with reckless driving, and if that reckless driving was the cause of another person’s death, shouldn’t she be charged with negligent homicide?
