Exec. board named at Hylton Center

A 2009-10 executive board was recently named to oversee present and future operations of the Hylton Performing Arts Center on the Prince William Campus of George Mason University, Manassas.

Local attorney Michael Vanderpool will serve as chairman of the board.

Carol Merchant Kirby and Gary Garczynski will serve as co-chairman of the Gala Committee for the upcoming Grand Opening celebrations scheduled for May 21-23.

The board consists of appointees by Prince William County, Manassas, George Mason University and the Prince William Campus Advisory Board.

Each board member is active on at least one subcommittee, which includes governance, strategic planning, budget and finance, marketing/programming and development.

The purpose of the board is to provide guidance on the policies and operations, as well as to engage in programs and activities that ensure the financial stability of the center.

In addition to Vanderpool, Kirby and Garczynski, the board is made up of Craig Gerhart, vice chairman; finance committee chairman; Rex Parr, secretary; governance committee chairman; Muneer Baig; Ron Carmichael; Carlos Castor; Sean Connaughton, development committee chairman; Gerry Connolly; Wally Covington; George Dasher; Larry Hughes, strategic planning committee chairman, Donna Kidd; Angela Knight; Bill Reeder; Richard Smith, marketing and program committee chairman, Corey Steward; and Jean Kellogg, ex-officio.
