Heritage Farm Day to be held Saturday
Heritage Farm Day, a new free Manassas Museum program celebrating the area’s rich agricultural history with activities and outdoor fun for all ages, will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Historic Liberia Plantation.
Children and adults can enjoy making craft projects with a farm theme, meeting farm animals in a petting zoo, taking pony rides, grinding corn for feed, making butter, milking a model cow and learning about the many uses of herbs.
At 2 p.m., Janet Kline, Farm Bureau Woman of the Year, will speak about agricultural changes in Northern Virginia.
Farm Day is part of the heritage series “From Cows to Condos” that uses educational programs and interactive learning to education students and museum visitors about the significant changes in the county over the years. A new exhibit at the museum, open through May 15, and a traveling trunk available for rent by educators, are also part of the series.
Liberia Plantation is located at 8600 Portner Ave. in Manassas. Parking for the event is available on Portner Avenue. For more information, call 703-368-1873.
