Celebrate America this Independence Day with one of the largest fireworks displays in Northern Virginia. It’s another all-American beach party in Old Town Manassas, sponsored by the City of Manassas.
The fun starts at 4 p.m. Saturday, around the Old Town train depot and Manassas Museum lawn. Dance to live beach and party music of “Latitude” at the Loy E. Harris Pavilion.
Win prizes at the boardwalk games of chance and have fun on all the rides. Of course there will be funnel cake and other favorite carnival foods, face painting and a red, white and blue hayride. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and come early to get the best seats on the Manassas Museum lawn for the fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.
The museum parking lot, as well as commuter Lot F at the corner of Main and Prince William streets, has been reserved for handicapped parking. Plenty of free parking is available in the other commuter lots on Prince William Street, at Baldwin Elementary School on Main Street and at Metz Middle School on Wellington Road.
Camp E.D.G.E.
The community is invited and welcomed to Grace United Methodist Church’s 2009 Vacation Bible School, Camp E.D.G.E., where you and your children will “Experience and Discover God Everywhere!” Camp E.D.G.E. begins July 12 and ends July 16. The time is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. every evening.
