Official: Immigration crackdown pushes down crime

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) _ A Prince William County official is attributing a decline in certain types of crime last year to the county’s crackdown on illegal immigrants.
A study released last week says homicides declined by 44 percent from 2006 to 2007. The incidence of rape fell 33 percent, robberies declined 23 percent, and aggravated assaults declined 18 percent.
County board Chairman Corey Stewart says the decrease is due to the resolutions cracking down on illegal immigrants in the county.
The county first started discussing the issue last summer, though no policy changes went into effect until this year.
Nancy Lyall of the immigrant advocacy group Mexicans Without Borders says many crimes are simply going unreported now because immigrants are afraid to go to police.

These reductions are HUGE in their percentages. The Potomac News reveals their anti-enforcement bias by not adressing the scope of these reductions and how they would cross reference with the implementation of our efforts to discourage illegal immigrants from hiding in our county. Jmolina a lot of crimes committed by Hispanics are lumped in with white and or black crime figures as well as illegal crime statistics that aren’t even documented. If anything that is pretty racist and discriminatory. Sorry Ray i do not support crime of any kind. I do hope the driver is charged with transporting illegals however and with hiring them to work as well. Realistically his passengers should be fined and deported as well. Sorry Anti BVBL the Resolutio has had an effect on crime since July of 2007, so in effect he is correct when he says that crime has fallen since the Resolution passed, thanks anyway. What this report neglects to mention is that crime has been on the decrease since 2004, so this year’s decrease is part of an overall trend and CAN NOT REASONABLY BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE RESOLUTION.

I might be able to support your plan but I still want to see work place enforcement including legal action against the employers. So far the Government has let them off the hook and only concentrated on the workers. The prosecutors keep stating that this is a hard charge to prove in court with all the fake documentation available to illegal immigrants. Again, we need a tamper proof national id card. The social security # was never intended to be such a card but over time it became that and now those numbers are readily used by illegal immigrants to obtain work illegally. We have all read the stories of those that had their identities stolen. It is a nightmare to get it corrected with no help from the IRS.

CZXnissan, it looks like you’ve been doing a lot of research on crime perhaps, you forgot to mention that crime is commited by individuals from any race, by you mentioning the term “Hispanic” you are profiling a race, what you should do is look a the police and court records and list the names of every criminal regardless his or her nationality and you will find out how absurd your comments are. Mr. Stewart manipulates the media just to silence the people that do not fall for his hypocricy and lies and, at the same time, he promotes and encourage racism in the narrow minds of people like czxnissan and others that support his resolutions, the immigration problem has not been solved by our federal government what makes you think that your hero C. Stewart has the magic formula to solve it? illegal immigrants are nothing but victims of many “county saver’s” hypocrisy, look at history: the first victims were the Native Americans who were oppressed, jailed, killed and put on the so called “reservations” because we didn’t like their way of life, then came the next victims: African Americans whose rights were also violated, their women raped, their houses torched, they were denied the right of existence. all this was done in the name of justice and sometimes in the name of God, so here we are in the 20th century with the same old bigotry and hatred, with a new victim: Hispanic and Latino immigrants, to whom we accused of all crimes, just because some of them are illegal, whose rights are also violated when heartless policies separate parents from their children, and when they are denied the oportunity to contribute to this great nation. need I say more?
cobra, glad you’re back. Boring without you! My Documention Plan is to document illegals, get fingerprints for security, collect payroll taxes and give them 2 years to get legal or pack for home. No amnesty, no benefits, no nothing - just documented. And I support the cause that you are a citizen of your parents county, not of the soil on which you were born.

Yes, Hispanics represent the largest ethnicity of sex offenders on that list!
Chris, here’s an idea: Why don’t you pick up illegal day workers and run traffic lights to see if you can reduce the population, since you seem to support crime - as long as its crime against illegals. LOL. You all keep believing the Resolution is working if that makes you happy.
