Neighborhood news: Club prepares for sale

The semi-annual Montclair FCE Community Yard Sale will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Henderson Elementary School on Waterway Drive. The rain date is Oct. 4.
Space rental fees and all proceeds from food sales are donated to local charities.
'Take a Kid Mountain Biking' at park
Join Prince William Forest Park and Trips For Kids on Saturday at 3 p.m. for "Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day."
Trips For Kids will hold a bicycle rodeo for children and then lead them on a short ride on a sin-gle-track trail. For more information, visit http://www.tfkmetrodc.org.
Band flea market
Attend the Forest Park High School Marching Band's Fall Flea Market on Saturday in the high school parking lot from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds from the event will go directly to support the band.
Make a scarecrow
Brownie Troop 899 will hold its second annual Make Your Own Life-size Scarecrow event at the Dale City Moose Lodge Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per scarecrow, while sup-plies last.
Golf association new
The MLGA game of the week was the Member-Member Best Ball. The first place winning team was Kim Damico and Sue Athas with a Low Net score of 56. Second place went to Carol Payne and Dottie Whibley with a Low Net score of 62.
Third Place was won by Sally DiMiero and Dawn Heffer with a Low Net score of 63.
MPOA New
The following committees and sub-associations will hold meetings next week: Monday, Safety, 7 p.m. and Community Events, 7:30 p.m. at the MPOA building; Tuesday, Covenants, 7 p.m. at the MPOA building; Thursday, Southlake Recreation, 7 p.m. at the Southlake Recreation Center; and Budget, 7 p.m. at the MPOA Building.

The lady in the picture is one of the many clones that lives along Waterway Drive and will be running this yard sale. Mrs. Cleaver hairdo convention at the bus circle at 9am.
There’s also a disproportionately high number of Chrysler Pacificas with the Chicco car seat barely visible through the rear tinted glass, and puckering McCain / Palin bumper stickers on the back. Always entertaining.
