Neighborhood News: Haunted Trail Walk

The Coles District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 13712 Dumfries Road in Manassas, will host a "Haunted Trail Walk" tonight, from 7 to 11 p.m. and tomorrow from 6 to 11 p.m. Everyone is invited to this free event.

There will be activities for the kids and fun for the entire family. Food and drinkswill be available for purchase, proceeds will benefit the fire department. For more information, please call 703-791-3400 or visit http://www.cdvfd.org.

Armed Forces Community Covenant

The second annual Armed Forces Community Covenant is Nov. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Loy E. Harris Pavilion in Manassas. This free event will feature entertainment, food, games, military demonstra-tions, information booths and other activities.

College night

On Nov. 9, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., three Northern Virginia Community College campuses will present Col-lege Night in Virginia, a free event which provides college planning advice. This seminar is open to every-one. Attendees can register to win one of the $500 scholarships that will be awarded by a random drawing at each location.

Veterans Day Open House

The Freedom Museum will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 8 to honor World War II veterans. The museum will have WWII veterans on hand to answer questions and discuss their war experi-ences with visitors. Light snacks will be provided. The museum is in the Manassas Airport Terminal at 10600 Harry Parrish Boulevard in Manassas.

Holiday craft shows

n Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 12975 Purcell Rd.,  Manassas, will hold their annual Holiday Craft and Gift Show on Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be over 30 vendors with both handmade items and items from home-based/catalog businesses. n Mark your calendars for Gar-Field High School Orchestra Boosters Holiday Craft Show on Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The school is at 14000 Smoketown Rd. in Woodbridge.

Donation received

The First Tee Program of Prince William County received a $10,000 donation on behalf of golf legend Jack Nicklaus, from David Southworth and Joseph Deitch, owners of Creighton Farms, a luxury community and golf course in Aldie, Virginia. The money will be used to add two elementary schools to the First Tee Program and supplement coaching for current participants. The First Tee Program is a national organization that teaches children positive life lessons through the game of golf.
