Southbound travelers will be able to use the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes on Interstates 95 and 395 for most of this weekend.

The reversible lanes will be open to southbound travelers until 1 p.m. Sunday, to accommodate participants in the annual Army 10-Miler race, to be held Sunday morning in Arlington.

Northbound travelers normally use the lanes, from Dumfries to the 14th Street Bridge, on the weekends.

The lanes will close completely on Sunday at 1 p.m. and then reopen to northbound traffic at 3 p.m., stated a Vir-ginia Department of Transportation press release.

Some ramps will be closed for the race beginning at 5:30 a.m. Sunday. They include the mainline I-395 north ramp to Va. 27/Va. 110 south (mile post 8B), the mainline I-395 north ramp to the HOV lanes, the mainline I-395 south ramp to the south parking lot at Eads Street (mile post 8A), the HOV ramp into the south parking lot to Eads Street and the ramp from Washington Boulevard to Va. 27.

During the week, motorists who have three or more passengers may use the lanes from 6 until 9 a.m., and then again from 3:30 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The lanes are open to all cars during all other times.
