PRTC holiday schedule changes

The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission announced there will be limited service on their buses the day before Thanksgiving, and will not operate any services Thanksgiving.

The agency, which is responsible for OmniRide commuter and OmniLink local buses, will operate limited mid-day bus service but no early afternoon service due to a lack of resources, said PRTC spokeswoman Christine Rodrigo.

"Because PRTC experiences a significant increase in mid-day and early afternoon OmniRide passengers the day before Thanksgiving, to avoid overcrowding, you may consider taking Metrorail or other regional bus and transfer to a Metro Direct bus to complete your commute," said Rodrigo.

OmniRide Metro Direct buses, which operate from the Franconia-Springfield Metro station to Woodbridge and from the West Falls Church Metro station to Manassas and to the Linton Hall Road area, will all run as scheduled Wednesday. They will operate on a modified holiday schedule on Friday.

On Friday, OmniLink and the Cross-County Connector bus, roundtrip during the day from Woodbridge to Manassas, will run as scheduled. OmniRide commuter buses will operate on a modified holiday schedule.

On Saturday OmniLink local buses will run as scheduled, in the Woodbridge Lake Ridge and Dumfries areas.

The first sentence of this story is inaccurate.  PRTC will operate limited SUPPLEMENTAL service on the day before Thanksgiving.
