Police say two Forest Park High School students found dead Monday in Triangle had agreed to commit suicide.

Bob Patrick found his 17-year-old daughter, Desiree, and 18-year-old Quirinius S. “Rain” Williams, dead Monday evening in the bedroom of her home in the 3900 block of Oakdale Circle.

Patrick had just returned home from work when he found his daughter and Williams on the floor with gunshot wounds, said Prince William County police Maj. Raymond Colgan.

Family members of both teens said they had no idea why the two would enter a suicide pact.

On Tuesday, Patrick was surrounding himself with family members and mourning.

“She was a good kid. I wish I could have got her to do her homework more often, but I don’t know what could have led to this,” he said.

Neighbors said the girl and her father moved to Oakdale Circle about two years ago, after her parents’ divorce.

Williams’ stepfather, Ruben Aguilar, was bewildered. He said he and Williams often spoke about life and growing up. He last saw his stepson alive Sunday night, when Aguilar made dinner for the family, he said.

Aguilar said his stepson and Patrick may have attended a recent homecoming game at Forest Park, but could not say for sure if the two were dating. Police said it appeared the two had a past relationship.

On Tuesday morning, he said he and his wife had yet to tell their other children, ages 10 and 17, about the shootings.

Williams’ mother, Michelle Aguilar, said she loved her son and, in an e-mailed statement, asked for privacy.

“He was such a gifted child and could play any classical composer’s masterpiece with gracefulness,” Aguilar wrote.“If there is anything that we could relay to other people, we would like to tell everyone that Quirinius had such a loving heart and was adored by all and had a smile that could light up the room.”

Forest Park High School called the family’s home about 3:30 p.m. Monday and told both parents that Williams was having problems in class. His stepfather said he didn’t know if Williams went to school Monday.

Friends of the teens gathered at the school Tuesday to talk to counselors and to mourn. Class was out for the elections, but Prince William opened the high school to students who needed to talk about Williams and Patrick.

Prince William County Public Schools spokeswoman Irene Cromer expressed condolences over the loss of the two young lives.

“The Forest Park High School community is deeply saddened by the tragic death of two students, Desiree M. Patrick and Quirinius S. Williams, on Monday night,” stated Cromer in an e-mail.

Counselors will remain available when students return to school Wednesday, Cromer stated.

I believe the news reported last night that parents had told them they could no longer date each other.  If this is true, do you suppose an excess of melanin had anything to do with it?
