Mom arrested for prostitution charged again after baby eats heroin

A Springfield woman arrested last year in a prostitution sting in Prince William County now faces charges after police say her 5-month-old baby ingested heroin.

Fairfax police last week charged Marilyn Fischl, 35, with child abuse, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the July 19 incident.

According to Fairfax County police, Fischl and her husband, 30-year-old Rafael Preston, left their son with babysitters on that day. The baby ingested heroin while the babysitters left him momentarily unattended, according to police.

The babysitters — Patrick M. Hall, 41, of Stafford and Eric C. Flynn of Great Falls — were also charged with felony abuse and neglect, police said. Flynn was serving time in the Fairfax Adult Detention Center on other charges when Hall was charged.

The baby is currently living with relatives and doing well, according to police reports.

Fischl was one of six people charged last October after a raid at a Woodbridge hotel.

The bust was part of “Operation Cross Country II,” which aims to find children who are victims of prostitution and get them into protective custody.

On Oct. 24, 2008, the investigation led officers and agents to the hotel, which police would not identify by name or address.

Police found no children during the operation, but several adults were charged in connection with the raid.

Information concerning Fischl’s prostitution trial — scheduled in June — wasn’t available due to incomplete online court records.

I hope the relatives who are taking care of the baby are watched like hawks by Social Services. You never know what goes on - in a seemingly happy household. They had to have known what the situation was - why didnt they alert somebody sooner?

How long is momentarily? The babysitter leaves and the baby finds heroin in that so-called short span of time.

What, was the heroin just laying on the floor?

Odds are that she was pregnant while prostituting.

(also a high probability that the child was born suffering narcotics withdrawls and coming up postitive on the HIV test)

The child never had a chance with such so called “parents”.

Heroine using babysitters, street walking mother, a father equally as warped.

They should have never left the hospital with the poor kid after it’s birth.

Even wild animals have an instinctive/protective nature concerning thier offspring.

A pack of wolves would have kept the kid safer.
