Shannon Column: Charlie Brown for governor
Last Sunday Bob McDonnell sat behind me in church and he didn’t appear the least bit suicidal. McDonnell didn’t sing too loud or try to address the congregation when he was introduced, which went a long way toward winning my vote.
Merli Column: Will the real Bob McDonnell please stand up?
One of the convenient blessings of the digital age is that if you happen to be a writer — or have written anything on any topic that others had access to — then the chances of it being retrievable via the Internet are extremely good.

It sounds like the plot of a horror movie:
Oppenhagen Column: End-of-life discussion a must

Hollifield Column: It’s enough to give Kermit road rage.
Traffic noise may be drowning out the seductive croaks of male frogs in Melbourne, Australia, interfering with their ability to attract mates — G’day, mate — and causing the frog population of the city to plummet, according to a shocking and disturbing story by Rod McGuirk of The Associated Press, the source I turn to for shocking and disturbing stories about amorous Aussie amphibians.

Merli Column: Battle of the big-box stores
What is it with the world’s biggest retailer and the Civil War? It seems nearly anywhere Wal-Mart wants to build one of its big-box stores, it’s always pretty close to a Civil War battlefield.
