LETTER: AG support a surprise
Published: October 22, 2009
I was surprised to see your endorsement for state Senator Ken Cuccinelli because he “will use the attorney general’s office as a tool to protect Virginians’ constitutional rights.”
Yes, Mr. Cuccinelli is willing and eager to take on this job because he could not control our lives as a state senator. Rather, he is looking to do so from another vantage point.
Let us look at our First Amendment right of free speech. Mr. Cuccinelli tried to stop a student-run health fair at George Mason University because he disagreed with the message.
Mr. Cuccinelli would like to impose his worldview on the rest of us, including blocking women’s access to contraceptives and couples choosing to live together. That seems like government “overreaching”
to me.
As for public safety, Mr. Cuccinelli opposes background checks for sales of guns by unlicensed sellers at gun shows, thereby allowing criminals and those intent to do harm to bypass background
checks.
The role of the attorney general is to enforce the laws (not ignore them if one disagrees with them), preserve public safety (even the Supreme Court under D.C. v Heller recognized the government’s right to
impose reasonable limitations on the Second Amendment) and to protect consumers and families (not block them from filling prescriptions or living as they choose).

do you have any proof of the above allegations or are you just spewing typical slash and burn garbage about an opponent. LET’S TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH FOR ONCE…IT WAS NOT A HEALTH FAIR. IT WAS A SEX FAIR
“an event billed as a sex education fair at George Mason
He fails to mention the triple-X marketing, the misinformation, the planned raffles of sex toys and he even omits mentioning the name SEXTRAVAGANZA, preferring to describe it as a sex-ed fair.(http://baconsrebellion.blogspot.com/2005/05/cuccinelli-explains-rationale-behind.html)
regarding the 2nd amendment, it was not background checks he opposed, it was DUPLICATE checks on citizens who already had them done. keep one thing in mind…
the US Constitution grants us the right to bear arms to protect us from tyrannical government that may try to take away our freedom.
Founding Father’s Intention & Purpose of the *Right to Bare Arms* ... This right is protected by the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. ... The Second Amendment was given to us as protection against tyranny by the federal government
With guns, we are citizens. Without them, we are subjects
As for his stand on Right to Life, it isn’t just a matter of the unborn, he is also concerned with the rights of the sick, elderly and disadvantaged. He has always stood by his convictions and stand on the issues including
Trying to make sure parents are informed when their 11 year old goes in for an abortion
stop the brutal practice of partial birth abortion.
I do not agree with his stance on abortion, I think that should be left to the woman, HOWEVER there are some things that are JUST WRONG and giving an 11 year old an abortion without her parents knowing when they can’t even get an aspirin is WRONG. Half delivering a baby then killing it is WRONG.
Stop distorting the facts. TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH. If your guy/woman can’t get elected telling the whole truth, then they shouldn’t be in office.
