LETTER: Anderson is the one for 51st
Published: October 11, 2009
We have an important election coming very soon. On Tuesday, Nov. 3 we will go to the polls to elect a new delegate to the 51st District. This election is very important and we should all go to the polls
regardless of party affiliation
One candidate is the incumbent seeking re-election and the other candidate is a newcomer, Richard Anderson, to the political scene with some new and inventive ideas. If that sounds like an
endorsement of Rich, frankly, it is.
Rich is retired USAF Colonel Richard Anderson and he has a vision for the future of Prince William County. He arrived in Prince William while still on active duty more than eight years ago. He is also my
neighbor, friend and fellow veteran. Although our time in the service of the United States was during different eras and in different uniforms, we share similar likes and dislikes about the state of the 51st
District, the county and the Virginia Commonwealth.
Some of the issues on which he is stumping is privatizing the ABC liquor stores to obtain much needed funds, reforming VDOT, and he is an ardent proponent of our Right-to-Work laws, which the
Commonwealth has enjoyed for a very long time.
Outside forces of the Commonwealth are spending a lot of money to get the incumbent delegate re-elected and change Virginia’s complexion with respect to Right to Work. That is a change we cannot
afford to have take place. The unions are working very hard to get Right to Work rescinded to make Virginia a union shop.
Rich has also vowed to work hard to hold the line on raising taxes and he will work closely with fellow delegates to hold that line. He is in favor of off-shore drilling. The resources are there to be used and
exploited for the benefit of all Virginians and the rest of the country alike. Oil is the engine of our economy and his support for nuclear power is another of the ways to energy independence.
Let’s all remember to do our civic duty on Nov. 3 and vote. I firmly believe that Rich is the way our county should be heading.

Poor phdee mad because his socialistic, lies about arrest candidates are losing.
I wonder if the person who wrote the LTE buys subsidized booze on base? Isn’t that a means to avoid taxes? Isn’t it socialism also?
Is Anderson going to advocate closing base liquor stores? If not, why not?
ejben:
Gp back to your booze.
Anderson is strriuctly parroting the McDonnell phony baloney line—to a T. Can’t think for himself. And a loyal toad and sycophant.
Obeying orders = doing what you’re told and keeping the mouth shut. (If something goes wrong, blame it on the lower rank or enlisted guy.)
I can tell you that Military Life is not as simple as “Phedee” proclaims.
Just like top Sargents, an Officer does not get pushed around.
All of the Military obey orders and when they say off to War to Defend our Country they go.
I wonder who Phedee thinks over all these years stood up for Our Country and Lost their Lives.
Anderson is as qualified as the next person. He’s honest, educated,American Citizen and will use common sence in his Duty as a Legislator.
Ray:
Nowthat Anderson supposedly is going to sell liquir stores, I wonder where he as a retired officer will ting his booze? On base? At taxpayers subsidies. Or will he seek legislation to have the drinking and booze stores on military bases closed?
And where does he propose getting the lost profit from the stores?
When one is an officer in the military, he/she has to keep the mouth shut and do what told - if he wantsx a career. Anderson therefore has never really had to think—not allowed to. He had to be a servile sycophant.
According to this LTE, Anderson’s candidacy is a carbon copy of McDonnell’s and the Republican campaign. It is all folly and phony/baloney. He as candidate has to psrrot the Republican line - like singing for his supper. And sorry cats, but having been a soldier in no way moves you to the top of the list in qualifications. We need people in touch with the civilian world =—- and Anderson isn’t it.
You must have written this letter before Anderson’s dishonorable mailing revealing all Del. Nichols private info, putting him at risk for ID threat.
No one in their right mind can vote for him now.
“Some of the issues on which he is stumping is privatizing the ABC liquor stores to obtain much needed funds ..“
So was it his idea to sell off the liquor stores or is Rich simply riding the coattails of Taliban McDonnell?
I should point out the Taliban is also against liquor sales and women’s rights.
The bigger question - which remains unanswered - is how Rich plans to raise money for the next go-round of budget needs - as he states he will fight to avoid raising tax revenue?
What crown jewels does Rich plan to sell the next time he needs money?
Simple question - someone (Rich?) please provide a simple answer.
The Governor’s Mansion? Skyline Drive? Luray Caverns, Natural Bridge? State park lands?
Empty ideas from an empty suit - regardless of how much brass came with the last uniform.
