LETTER: Good news for true Christians

If you are a true Christian and are praying that God will bless our country again and turn it around, I have some good news.
First, we must want and seek God, Jesus, family, church, honesty, responsibility, accountability, marriage (man and woman) and truth. We can change the downward direction our country is heading.
Christians, wake up and think of the future of your children and grandchildren, and vote for Bob McDonnell.
Their future is in your hands.

As vmj notes, regardless of how you characterize “God” - or not - He, She, It, Karma, is that feeling in your heart when a knife is run through it - assuming you are the one that was wielding the knife by your actions.
So go dis swine flu spreading rampant killing people? God is that feeling in your heart when a knife is ran through it? Or is he just the good things in life?
Sounds like god is nothing more than a manifestation.

Why does anyone molest children? They are sick, sick, sick…. Why did the church cover up these deviants? That is the $50,000.00 question.
There is not one Catholic I have spoken to that thinks there is any reason good enough to cover up this crime. I believe it was simply the ‘good old boy’ network that has been alive and well for centuries, and probably the thinking is/was ‘if this gets out it will ruin us’ mentality. Needless to say, they were wrong.
This is not unlike the excuses made by any organization for their members bad or illegal behavior. You see it everywhere, in the highest places for example Washington, but because priest are thought of as ‘above’ this kind of thing, it’s more heinous. The church ‘coverup’ is/was wrong and there is no reasoning for it.
Many, many people have left the church for this reason. It is certainly not exclusive to the Catholic Church, but as I have said, the church being as big as it is, is a very attractive target.
Religion is a good way to get to know God, or whatever you wish to call him/her, it is ‘not God’. Religion will never be ‘perfect’ it is man made, run by men, interpreted by men and was for centuries, and in some cases still is, for men. It has been the reason for many wars and has been manipulated for selfish reasons for centuries.

This belief of mine is not taught but acquired from all the things I have learned and experienced in my life, but as always, this is just my belief and my opinion….

Churches & areligious non-profits are exempt from taxes on most property & income
under the U.S. Code. This is basic knowledge, i.e., that which all citizens should know.
Do you really believe that churches get a big tax return every year? It doesn’t work that way. Yes churches would continue to give away all that money, it is called charity. Of course there is money in the area and new churches sprouting up everywhere, but if you are not involved in that particular church you don’t know what that situation is.
For instance, our church has been where it is for 50 years. We are not building a new church, but in order to keep up with our aging congregation and the laws regarding handicapped accessability, we have to put in a new elevator. It is very expensive. Some church buildings are very old and it is just less expensive to build a new building.
I am not going to say I am a biblical scholar (because I am not) but my understanding about people that came before Jesus is that they did not go below but that God still had a place for them in heaven. He still has a place for Jews, after all, it is a covenant that he made with them.
Priest sexually molest children because they are deviants and the church accepting it was unforgiveable. The church covered it up for political reasons and they are paying the price for it now.
Yea and the church gets that money right back come tax time. Otherwise do you think they would give away so much?
There is money in the area, which is why you find a new church sprouting up in every vacant lot.
I still would like to know how people before Jesus got into heaven. They didn’t know the Christian god. I’d also like to know a bit more about why priests sexually molest children and why it has been acceptable to the church for hundreds of years ( not to mention covered up by the church ).

I would love to comment on all your questions but I know I could not change your mind on anything, but I would like to mention something you said a few comments back,

Obviously, there are some large churches in this country but the large majority of churches are not making a profit. I know that my church pays out over 40% of all that we take in to charitys around the world, the rest of the money goes mostly to Christian education, local projects and keeping the doors of the church open.
We have no debt, but we have no profit either. We are not in business for “nothing more than money”
Dear God,
Before asking you to please, please use your mystical powers to help McDonnell defeat that heathen Democrat, we’d like to thank You for continuing to totally bless us more than all those backwards, non-Christian nations (we TOTALLY get that You like us best!). We ask You to please also help us prevail against the misguided socialist Nazi’s in charge of our country who seek to give healthcare to the poor, dear Lord, for You know that we are already taxed mightily enough already! And Sweet Jesus, we know how desperately you loathe the homosexuals and we want to completely assure You that we’re doing everything we can to keep them from living as equals among us. We’re working hard for You God, so let’s get with the program and please, please, please give us at least one Republican victory.
