LETTER: Please devote time to prayer
Published: July 3, 2009
I am writing because of my Christian belief of the critically important nature of what follows, namely, a request that anybody who is willing participate in Family Research Council’s (FRC) upcoming prayer
initiative: “Call 2 Fall,” scheduled for July 5. FRC is asking pastors and churches to engage in a singular act of corporate humility, taking at a minimum 3 to 5 minutes during Sunday morning worship
services for the entire congregation to literally fall to their knees, calling upon God to forgive our sins and heal our land (2 Chron. 7:14; Joel 2).
If you have already “signed-in” your church, thank you. If not, please see FRC’s Web site: (http://www.call2fall.com) and consider doing so. There you will find other helpful information, including a suggested
bulletin insert.
The plan is to set aside time on July 5 for earnest prayer and repentance on behalf of the Church and our nation in a simple but powerful commitment to get on our faces before the Lord, asking Him to
reshape our lives and renew our land.
In the Web site, Tony Perkins, FRC President, writes: “Many churches set aside the Sunday closest to the 4th of July as Citizenship Sunday, to celebrate America’s Christian heritage and the great
liberty it has brought us. Would it not be appropriate for us to make Sunday, July 5th a day for God’s people, in churches all over America, to fall on our knees before a holy and gracious God and declare
once again our dependence upon Him?”
Thanks for your time, and, please “sign-in.” I look forward to being with you “in spirit” on July 5th with millions of other Christians joined in one heart and mind as we all pray for our beloved country.
