LETTER: Politics as usual in the state of Virginia
Published: July 4, 2009
Seems like politics as usual. The media corrupts again. Governor Kaine associating his spending of tax payer money on his moonlighting job as chairman for the Democratic Party to that of the recent
disgust of the South Carolina’s governor’s trip to Argentina is pathetic. Let’s keep it real; let’s keep it here. We are focusing on the state of Virginia.
Should we all just sit back here and bring up ALL the disgusting behaviors of our elected officials — I think not; both parties have their downfalls — we are All human. None of us are immune to the
challenges of life. We must not blame a whole race or party of people for a handful of knuckleheads — let’s focus on our state, our home, our VIRGINIA.
Do Democrats really care? Abe Lincoln was the first Republican president; it was Abe who issued the Emancipation Proclamation to end slavery — not to the delight of democrats. The Civil Rights Act
was supported by the Republicans at a percentage rate higher than that of the Democrats — Republicans pushed this act. The father of former presidential candidate Al Gore, Jr. opposed the Civil Rights
Act —which his son never renounced. Lyndon B. Johnson praised the Republicans for their overwhelming majority to vote for this Act. Richard Nixon, a Republican, instituted Affirmative Action to level
the wrongs done to minorities; it was the Democrats that twisted this action as an entitlement.
Democrats distort the truth about their true self, again, just for the vote. They will not have a voting base if minorities were out of poverty. The social programs of the Democrats do not work; can not we
see how the many years of their programs took to result in the disaster of this present day? You can not blame this on the Bush administration. There are a lot of wonderful folks running for important
offices in our Commonwealth, but if we compare the integrity and might of them all, we must confess that, indeed, the integrity of God and Country will suffice. Let’s make Virginia RED again. Let’s make
Virginia Country again. Let’s wake up and smell the Democrats. Let’s bring this one home for all people of our Commonwealth who loves VIRGINIA. Vote red for integrity, honesty and loyalty! The few and
proud Republicans!

For the record most of the Dixiecrats did not join the Republican party another myth disseminated by certain historians, and perpetuated by the media and other unscrupulous individuals. LOL Chris Cummings
The writer longs for the good old racist days of Virginny. “Carry me back to old virginny”. The writer just loved the civil rights era and Va.‘s role, especially massive resistance.
The Republican Party of 1860 is not the Republican Party of today, nor is the Democrat Party of 1960 the Democrat Party of today.
Most of the Dixiecrats who voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 became Republicans after it passed.
