LETTER: Rafael Lopez is great choice

» 3 Comments | Post a Comment

Voters have a great choice this time around in the 52nd District. The Republican candidate, Rafael Lopez, was elected to a local city council and has a known record that is public knowledge.

On the other hand his opponent, Luke Torian, is a relatively unknown who’s only claim to fame is that he is a leader of a local church and from all indications he is good at it.

But that hardly qualifies him to go to Richmond and represent us. Rafael has accepted all requests to debate and has researched the issues before taking a position. Torian on the other hand, stated he
would have accepted the “stimulus” money for extending the unemployment insurance and the state could merely cancel the federal mandate to continue at the same rate for all times.

He apparently cannot grasp what the word “permanent” means. We need Rafael in Richmond.

Lopez served on Dumfries City Council a few years back, and had nothing to do with incidents of late.  An as far as corrupt and mismanagement goes.  Any Pastor who refuses to show his non profits 990 tax form as mandated by law, and is a founding member of VOICES, an organization patterened after and affilliated with ACORN, may be a better fit for the description of corrupt and mismanaged.

Humm, Luke Torian has leadership skills - and is good at it.

Sounds EXACTLY like the person we need representing PWC in Richmond.

When did Dumfries become a ‘city’?  Does Homan even know where Lopez served?  Is Lopez part of the corruption and mismanagement Dumfries is known for?

If being a pastor only is not qualifying for Torian to be delegate, could we also assume that just being a retired military office Rick anderson similarly is not qualified?

The pastor at leaszt show compassion for the unemployed.  So va. turned down stimuilus money for the unemployed benefits? Goes to show ther republicans just don’t give a damn about the suffering caused by the Bush administration.

I see the stimulus money is being used for police radios, roads, VRE, hiring more teachers, etc.  What will they do when the stimulus money runs out?

Obviously this LTE clod didn’t think about it.

Isn’t Lopez’s only qualifications from serving in the Dumfries govt., the town that is going bankrupt, has crime, turmoil, corrupt politicians, etc.  Some job…should fit right in with the Republican crowd.
