LETTER: Reelect Del. Paul Nichols
Published: October 11, 2009
I recently viewed Rich Anderson’s campaign Web site to see what he has to say about the issues. I watched a video on the site in which he and his wife sit together and discuss the problems facing us
today — unemployment, people losing their homes, etc.
That is what the entire video consists of — Mr. and Mrs. Anderson telling us they have been told what the problems are. In Mr. Anderson’s words, “We’re not finding the right solutions” and, “We haven’t
yet found the solutions in the General Assembly,” and while these words are spoken, the words “Real Solutions” is superimposed on the screen over the photos in the video. Then Mr. Anderson adds, “I
have a lot of optimism.” Then he states, “I want to be your delegate.”
Well that is very nice, Mr. Anderson; it is nice to hear that you have a lot of optimism. I don’t. Mostly because your Republican-controlled House of Delegates hasn’t found the solutions either.
The residents of the 51st district do not want to vote for someone who has heard the problems and just has a lot of optimism and would like to be our delegate in Richmond. I think they are more
interested in someone with solutions. Where are your real solutions? I did not hear one single solution or proposal in your video. Just comments about our current woes; no solutions — not even
suggestions!
I plan to vote for the reelection of Del. Paul Nichols — a man who has worked hard for his constituents and has proposed real solutions for our district, including his recommendation that we start planning
for Metro to Woodbridge and Potomac Mills — now!

How is McDonnell and Anderson going to pay for the BILLIONS need to take metro to Dulles, widen 66 and 95m and other pipe dreams—all from selling the liquor stores for 500 million? Why over 4 billion is needed in Va. just to fix deteriorating bridges.
Maybe McDonnell and Anderson will pray—- or help Patty Robertson open contributions sent in by little old ladies.
I also see Va. is having to borrow heavily from the feds to pay unemployment benefits for the next 2 years. Where will these boys get the money?
I’d like to see the “move it around” technique McDonnell proposes to raise money.
They are too used to living off the military and its extravagant budgets.
Pure folly and nonsense.
“Some of the issues on which Rich Anderson is stumping is privatizing the ABC liquor stores to obtain much needed funds ..“
So was it his idea to sell off the liquor stores or is Rich Anderson simply riding the coattails of Taliban McDonnell?
I should point out the Taliban is also against liquor sales and women’s rights.
The bigger question - which remains unanswered - is how Rich plans to raise money for the next go-round of budget needs - as he states he will fight to avoid raising tax revenue?
What crown jewels does Rich Anderson plan to sell the next time he needs money?
Simple question - someone (Rich?) please provide a simple answer.
The Governor’s Mansion? Skyline Drive? Luray Caverns, Natural Bridge? State park lands?
Empty ideas from an empty suit - regardless of how much brass came with the last uniform.
Is this the best you guys got? I mean, really?
Reelect Del. Paul Nichols.
There’s one reason that I look forward to voting this year…my vote will cancel out Ray’s.
“Ah, and thus we hear from two members of the party of No. No solutions coming from their mouths either I see.“
And none coming from your mouth either, Ray.
Work is being done to improve I95, I395, &
the beltway. Metro to Dulles is progressing; slowly, but surely.
Rather than Metro to Potomac Mills, a connection of Metro & VRE would be cheaper, easier, & a whole lot faster.
Wait a minute, did I just offer a solution? Maybe not, I may have heard that from someone else.
Ah, and thus we hear from two members of the Party of No.
No solutions forthcoming from their minds either I see.
Nichols a day late and a dollar short, proposing METRO in this continued terrible economy.
Well here we go. Another Democrat that doesn’t know that the Metro has been in the Long Range Comp. Plan for years.
It will take Billions of Dollars to get to Woodbridge and Potomac Mills . It will be at least 30/40 years beforeit happens, if then.
We have VRE, Commuter Buses and Highways,we need to keep improving these.
Perhaps all the Democrats ought to put up the Money, as most families do not have room in their Budgets for more Taxes.
Since the Democrats want to raise the taxes then let them pay for it.
