LETTER: Silly editorial board thought

Do you have any analytical thinkers on your editorial board at all? You continue to advocate having the Dumfries Town Council members give up all their pay. They are performing a service for the town. 

That makes each of them an employee like everyone else working for the town, yet your position is that they are somehow different and should work for free. Think about it. The town council is senior
management. 

They are the decision makers and charged with charting the vision of the town. They have the most important job in Dumfries and, incredibly, you think they should give up all their compensation and work
for free. 

Every successful enterprise in the country pays their leadership. What kind of leadership talent do you expect to attract if you pay nothing? 

Your editorial board’s view is merely an example of that goofy, naïve, far-left wing thinking that believes that all bosses are selfish rich people and they should give up everything they have to the oppressed
masses. If the council members show up for work every day, they should be paid like everyone else.
