LETTER: The facts about Paul Nichols

» 39 Comments | Post a Comment

As chairman of the local Republicans, I cannot claim to be unbiased in the 51st House race.  However, the are some facts that can be drawn from your coverage that are undisputed.

First, both Del. Nichols and the police report indicate that Nichols got out of his car and approached the officer during a traffic stop. Boys and girls, don’t try this at home. A traffic stop is statistically one
of the most dangerous things an officer can do. Approaching an officer during a traffic stop will result in a curt order to “Return to your vehicle, Sir.” If that order is not obeyed, the officer will call for backup.
If you still don’t obey the officer, you will be arrested and could end up “kissing the pavement.” Everybody knows that except, apparently, Del. Nichols.

Regarding the News & Messenger coverage and opinion, the paper quoted Nichols quoting Faisal Gill, even though the quote couldn’t be verified. Second, the paper treats the dismissal of the charges like
an acquittal — it’s not the same thing. It was a botched prosecution. The paper repeats Nichols allegation of prosecutorial misconduct without citing any documentation. The News & Messenger cites the
word of Nichol’s buddies but not the word of sworn officers. This is a slap in the face to law enforcement officers everywhere.

Third, the biggest danger in having your social security number known is that people will apply for credit in your name. It does not automatically give them access to existing credit card numbers. My
social security number is 179-42-7939. http://www.lifelock.com is $10 a month, Del. Nichols. Duh!

Mr. Beefelt apparently doesn’t realize that Paul Nichols is not guilty.  It doesn’t matter why Nichols was not declared guilty.  Beefelt also was not there.  He has no idea what happened.

Beefelt’s entire attitude is irresponsible and flippant.  I suspect he also does not have a law degree from North Carolina.

There is no slap in the face to law enforcement officers.  Again, Mr. Nichols was not convicted.  Therefore he is not guilty.

Releasing someone’s social security number is just not to be done.  Period.  Mr. Beefelt doesn’t have the wisdom or the sense to lead even the Republicans.  i am shocked and will not be voting Republican as planned.

“And I said that it’s impossible to rank any President in the first place, because it’s a wholly subjective and worthless enterprise.“

You continue to amaze me with your faux brilliance.

While it may be your opinion that ranking past presidents is ‘wholly subjective’ and ‘worthless enterprise’ it is certainly not ‘impossible’ as you incorrectly state.

If you go the the C-SPAN web site, you will see that they HAVE done the ‘impossible’ - and ranked your boy in the 36th position in the process.

And of course rankings are a snap shot in time - and as you’ve noted, positions come and go and people move up and move down the list - but it doesn’t make the list any less telling about a president’s overall ranking among his peers.

In fact, the list would have less credibility if there was no movement within the context of history.

But what gets me is the conviction with which you attempt to make your case.  I do believe that you believe with all your heart that you, independently, are smarter and more knowledgeable than the whole of the C-SPAN enterprise - as well as the rest of the world you come in contact with.

And if you were a less ‘private person’, all the world would know pwanon by his philosophical contributions to mankind.

But in a world where a jump of 10 positions is huge, you believe a 21 position jump is justified for GWB.

You lose these discussions not because you’re not clever with a pen, but because you fail to or refuse to accept reality.

When the reality is that you have proven over these past 18 months that you live in your own little dream world and believe that because you said so - it is so.

When it ain’t so.

“You have spent a day barely able to keep your head above water”

Please.  Come with something better than this.  I can smell your desperation to stay relevant in this one-sided beatdown from here.

But maybe you can enlighten us all with another insightful, genius-laded comparison of Barry to Jim Zorn.

It was hilarious the first time around…in your typical grasping, desperate-for-logic manner.

“No. Just crickets from you.“

Actually, dummy…I answered that very same question a matter of months ago.

And I said that it’s impossible to rank any President in the first place, because it’s a wholly subjective and worthless enterprise.

Beyond that, to even attempt to do so without allowing years to pass by for some kind of context only serves to show how worthless a “survey” it is.

And further, that if I had to, I’d put him somewhere around 15.  But like I said…it’s a completely worthless argument to anyone with any semblance of intelligence…which is clearly why you bask in it, as you clearly lack that semblance.

“And you counter with an abortion comment!“

Actually, pointing that out was just a way of demonstrating the complete dearth of credibility you have on any topic, as you’ve said repeatedly that you didn’t care how detrimental Barry and Democrats would be to this country…as long as irresponsible people kept unfettered access to murdering the unborn.

Such nobility on your part.

“present an argument based on those findings.“

Indeed, I’ve clearly done that as well, via citation of how statistically insignificant the sample size was, how subjective the enterprise is in the first place, and how paying attention to the absurdity of the results from survey to survey all serve to completely discredit it.

I’ve destroyed the credibility of this “survey” on nearly as many occasions as I’ve destroyed yours.

But you insist on being an ignorant child about the fact that every argument you make is paper thin, and gets crushed every time you limp-wristedly toss these softballs out.

But the overwhelming point of it all is that you’re so desperate to not talk about the failed Teleprompter Administration that you’ll continue to debate a “survey” that’s already been debunked as garbage.

You’re so fantastically desperate that it’s got to be nothing short of embarassing to wake up as you every day.

“But hey…like you said…as long as irresponsible people maitain their ability to murder unborn children at any time and in any way, you’re a happy guy.“

Let’s see ... our discussion was about the C-SPAN poll of 68 respected presidential historians ranking your boy as the 36th worst president in American history.

And you counter with an abortion comment!

You have spent a day barely able to keep your head above water, and now you’re grasping at any straw to keep from drowning in your own ignorance.

Pitiful.

An intelligent person would verify the qualifications of the C-SPAN participants and present an argument based on those findings.

But you?  No, you cavalierly dismiss these distinguished historians as “liberal college professor who need to get a real job” - substituting your lone, highly debatable opinion as a suitable replacement.

Yet, still no word from you on your personal ranking of GWB.  Top three, top ten, sliding in just ahead of Bill Clinton in 14th place?

No. Just crickets from you.

And one other question.  Did you go to college?  Were you educated by these “liberal college professor who need to get a real job”.  Or did you attend class with your fingers stuck in your ears - a nice change from your tendency to stick them up your a I will admit - refusing to listen to their “liberal” thoughts?  Turning in papers challenging their very teachings with your superior wisdom?

And ... hoping you’ll pop to the surface and gasp another breath - you also never told us why you chose NOT TO vote for GWB - twice?

Have you been able to scrape the Gore - Kerry bumper stickers off your tricycle?

I earned my law degree at the same college that Mr. Community Organizer did.

WACARD:

Have you ever seen some of those police brutality videos and news on TV?  Did you like them?  Evidently so.

Legalised:
why do Uuou fail or refuse to tell us where you earned your law degree.  From the nonsense you post, I doubt if you have a GED.  l

Must have been a a lot of under 30 voters in that poll that don’t remember how bad Carter was of course. Nichols should never have stopped for then he wouldn’t have been arrested. The identity theft thing is a smoke screen. Those records were legally available.

Well said Mr. Beefelt.  How many of you have had a violent confrontation with the police?  How many of you have had your nose bloodied by the police?  You haven’t because you conduct your life in a manner that avoids that sort of confrontation.  That’s the point.  We don’t need a party animal in Richmond we need someone to represent us in a dignified and honest manner.
