LETTER: The more info the better

In the Oct. 26 edition, Mr. Wiggins says he was “stunned” at Rich Anderson’s so-called mudslinging.

It is deplorable that Mr. Nichols has the audacity to serve as a delegate to a law-making body, when he in fact (according to records, expunged or not), was arrested for verbal/physical disobedience to a
police officer.

As a voter, I want to know all about the candidates I send to the state legislature to make laws. We all must live by the law, especially lawyers who are officers of the court.

For honesty, integrity and a fast learner who has no baggage, vote for Rich Anderson in the 51st District.

FLOYD CALLIHAN

He makes such statements because his “Socialist” “The Joker” hero calls the police stupid and then has a beer summit and then makes light of a politician trying to hide his arrest record.

RayWilliams:

Not having seen the Steve Martin movie, I don’t fully understand what you’re getting at.  Enlighten me.  I am assuming it relates to the officer’s post knocking me.

“In actuality if this was true or not… we will never know since no drug or alcohol screening was done on Mr. Nichols ...“

Point A:  We don’t know if it was true or not, but Mr. Nichols was not found guilty - and the charges were dropped - indicating it was not true.

Do you believe in the American system of justice Mr. Botello, former Supervisory Police Officer?  Were you taught ‘innocent until proven guilty in a court of law’?  Do you recall those words as a part of your training?
“Later it seems that prior to the trial the Police Officer left the agency ...“

Point B:  It is highly probable that the officer was not a competent police officer and left the agency due to poor performance.  Either by his own accord or by request of his superiors.  But in actuality we will never know if this was true or not.

Nice try Steve Botello.  Please wash the mud off your hands and then tell us what else you got.

“Your doing well Sir… please keep it up.“

Steve Botello, it should read ‘you’re’ as in ‘you are’.  Just for future reference.

And now to ‘Mr. Phdee’.

phdee, why does this make me return to the Steve Martin movie “The Jerk” opening lines ... LOL !!  I can’t get that out of my head.  smile

Mr. Phdee,

I must say that never within such a short period of time have I ever known or heard of anyone such as yourself make such an obvious fool of himself and show this …again and again…with his own verbiage in a public forum.

In your more recent comments you somehow manage to equate Mr. Nichols conduct and resulting charges related to the incident of April 2006 of a. Assault on a Law Enforcement Official and b. Resist Delay Obstruct, somehow with resisting the National Socialist Party (Nazi) and the Holocaust murder of the Jews in the 1930’s and 1940’s.  What are you thinking!?  What level of stupidity are you at to make such egregious statements?

As a former Supervisory Police Officer who has dealt with countless persons in traffic stops and their intoxicated friends…there are many many things you DO NOT DO as a by stander who has “consumed drug/alcohol” while observing a traffic stop and one of those is to step in and interfere with the Officer conducting the traffic stop.

When you have a moment please go to the arrest report (which is a public record) and the section where it says “Arrestee Information” then go to the far right block where it says “Consumed Drug/Alcohol”.  You will see it is checked…”Yes”.  This indicates the person now detained and arrested, in this case Mr. Nichols, has consumed and is showing these signs on scene and to the Officer, of having consumed drugs and/or alcohol.  One of these being Mr. Nichols choice to obviously to step out of his vehicle and somehow attempt to interfere with the traffic stop itself, his then continuing on-scene actions and thus… his resulting charges and arrest from these actions against the Officer.

In actuality if this was true or not… we will never know since no drug or alcohol screening was done on Mr. Nichols once he was arrested but to the Police Officer at the scene and at that time it was pronounced enough for him to note it in his arrest report and later in court this would be further evidence related to Mr. Nichols actions at the scene in support of the other charges should it later go to trial…but again as we now know… it never did.  Also.. I am wondering …where his arrest photo is?

Later it seems that prior to the trial the Police Officer left the agency and with that the Prosecutor no longer had the witness available for the continued prosecution of the charges in the case.  He then could have gone to trial with no witness available or asked the court to dismiss the charges against Mr. Nichols.  We now know he choose to have the charges dismissed by the court.

Now I do not know Mr. Nichols at all.  I am sure he is a fine person but I will tell you that even he as a long practicing Attorney knows how our system of Justice well enough to participate in writing the actual laws and how it works.

Obviously he ignored this at the time of the traffic stop but now he clearly indicates his knowledge of this quite well with his further later actions in his attempt to get the arrest record expunged of which I do not know was actually done, completed and verified.

Mr. phdee, you have now compared Law Enforcement Officers with the Nazi’s and also once again attempted to further try to attempt to impugn Mr. Anderson’s military service as well as the service of tens of millions of other men and women who have served and sacrificed for this country over the years.

Your doing well Sir… please keep it up.

Yours truly,

Steve Botello

UnAmerian statements.  In this country, one is innocent until proven guilty.

When did you stop beating your wife?

“As a voter, I want to know all about the candidates I send to the state legislature to make laws.“

Then why on earth would Mr. Callihan support a candidate that only provides HALF of the information to the voting public - in a manner that insures YOU DON’T “know all about the candidates”?

Rich Anderson’s supporters are about as empty of original thought as the candidate himself.

Rich Anderson is an empty uniform draped over a Styrofoam R to give it some shape.  There is nothing inside but a mannequin posing as a candidate.

Paul Nichols is the only candidate that is qualified to be elected and to serve the people.

Sorry…another die-hard and ignorant Republican.

Anderson has no integrity or qualifications.  Obviously this is what the LTE wants.  He wants a yes man, a toad and sycophant, to be a manakin in the GA, to fall in line with Repubs.

I personally see nothing wrong in questioning a police officer.  They by no means are always correct. Lots of Jews went to the gas chambers because they did not question—went like sheep.  People have got to speak up and not get run over.

After over 30+ years in the military, Anderson was only a Colonel.  Doesn’t sound like he was too great or decorated.  But again, what kind of skills are needed to manage missile silos?
