LETTER: Vote for the better candidate

» 6 Comments | Post a Comment

A few years ago, when asked to cross party lines when voting, I carefully considered the request. In the end, I supported a person who was less like me in many ways than my party’s candidate. (And, as
a matter of record, the local newspaper wrote about that support.)

I think that all Democrats in the 52nd District should take a hard look at their candidate and consider this: It is not a matter of party, Democrat or Republican; color, black or white; or sex, male or
female.  Rather, as it was for me then, it is for you now: There is a better candidate.

I think we can all acknowledge, even if it is begrudgingly, the world did not end when many Republicans crossed party lines and voted for the Democrat and now President Obama.  Today, I note to all
Democrats, regardless of what your party leadership says, it is your time to stand up and do the right thing.

It is your turn to cross party lines and vote for the better candidate, Mr. Rafael Lopez.

jVA—

I am sure Lang appreciates your kind words.  Being articulate does not detract from his mesage.

With that, I think that most people know the Democrats would have done themselve well had they claimed Lopez as their own.  The local leadership failed the party.

I am confident that the District will crossover and vote for Mr. Lopez.

Give Mr. Lang credit for a thoughtful, intelligent letter.

Rafael Lopez gets my vote just because he hasn’t spent his whole campaign re-phrasing what he said.  Unlike minister Torian, it seems all he has done was try to correct what he really said.  That’s too close to being a liar for me. I’m going with Mr. Lopez this round.

too am a democrat and liken myself to Sheila Johnson in that on some issues I have to cross the party line, this being one.  Not only is Rafael Lopez the better candidate in this case, I truly respect him for his position on family.  Mr. Lopez is not trying to get elected through the votes of his church, but keep all things in order as they should be.  A lot of people are saying “I don’t think a Pastor should be running for office” and this is correct.  A pastor shouldn’t, so why should I support someone who brings politics into the church and vise versa.  With that I agree the better choice is Rafael Lopez and he gets my vote for keeping the church sacred as it should be.

Well, there are four voices of reason:  Robert, the Observant1, me, and Mr. Lopez.

Come along Democrats.  Exercise your right to vote for the most qualified candidate.

I said it before I do not agree with Mr Lopez on all issues but he is the more qualifed for the job at hand and has showed himself honest and humble, he gets my vote.
He’s already been an elected official…let’s elect him again.
