LETTER: What about the devout Christians?
Published: June 23, 2009
I have a question for the News & Messenger: Have you ever used a headline to identify a crime victim as “a devout Christian?”
Just Curious.

Editor’s Note: This letter refers to the story “Mother: Shooting victim a devout Muslim.”
The letter was about 35-year-old William Andersen, one of two shooting victims at the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission’s bus terminal
Monday morning.

Actually, you know what, Raymonda - let’s play your game.
Here is one of many proofs you asked for:
You go now and do a research on any of the ancient books that has as many copies dated as early to the original as the Bible - this is to save you one of the most ignorant arguments about the authenticity of the Bible since it is a copy of a copy of a copy etc.
Just do not come up with something out of thin air because there are even Harvard professors of law who specialize in handling of evidence who can tell you that at the end you may choose not to believe but you CAN NOT deny the evidence for the Bible.
Then we can move on something “easier” - like… fulfilled Bible prophecy!
God is not mocked!
Ray - you are begining to look more and more ridiculous with your suggestions and questions…
No, it is not your inability to handle alcohol.
It is your inability to think apart form ideology and party lines!
Like I said before - do not stop to amuse us and keep them coming!
no, willow - milk comes from… the grocery!
Now you made me wonder which planet you come from arguing, as a former “a Future Farmer of America”, the intelect of sheep…
“An atheist who has “all the answers”... “
scorps, I believe my post was in the form of a QUESTION.
Do you have the answer - or just more dancing on the head of a pin avoiding the question as usual talk?
Raymonda - I take it you can’t handle alcohol like a man and you had one too many last night together with Ronnie who also suffers a major hangover this morning and blames the liberal Supreme Court of year 2000 for Bush’s election this morning.
Not that you two make more sense when you are sober…
You girls should stick to non-alcoholic margaritas from now on!
And, yes - I, like a dumb sheep, realize what a speck of dust I am in a universe that my human intelect has no capacity to configure or measure.
You, on the other hand, are a totally different creature - a self made man who worships his creator.
An atheist who has “all the answers”...
A humanist who can dismantle the undeniable mistery of the Bible…
A descendent of apes who can explain all the marvelous biblical prophecies no book written by the hand of a mere man can boast with…
Right?!
You, once again, are getting involved into something you have absolutely no knowledge about and your own idea of the divine goes no further than Dante’s “Inferno” perhaps… only because you were present in class on that day…
“From Jeremiah 1:4-5 (NKJV): “Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
This quote is provided by Opinion Columnist James Simpson - making the case that God knows who He creates before you are born.
This would indicate God creates for His purposes - which are not known to man.
scorpio disagrees, perhaps due to watching the full Star Wars trilogy, and feels man can be turned to the dark side against God’s will.
So which is it? God formed you in the womb and has planned your path - or God is as helpless as the rest of us in watching the direction of the world?
scorpio,
“sheep are dumb, stupid ... and are helpless without a shepherd”
Ive heard a story that one sheep started walking off a cliff and all of the rest of the sheep followed…“
That just shows how ignorant you are about sheep & probably all other farm animals. I was a Future Farmer of America, remember? You’re probably one of those dumb city fellas who still thinks milk comes from a bottle.
“I’ve heard a story that one sheep started walking off a cliff and all the rest of the sheep followed - that’s how dumb they are…“
And yet you describe yourself as a member of the flock, led by the smooth talking shepherd, willing to follow blindly without thought or question.
It seems in this context, the sheep is the person that is unable to think on their own - that’s how dumb they are.
Also, stilling waiting for your proof there is a God, and that this God wrote the Bible and not man.
Until you are able to back up your statement with proof, you simply have faith, which is mere opinion and thus, open to a different point of view.
Raymonda - once again you got your foot stuck in your mouth. These two statements have nothing to do with each other - one is in regard to the Bible, the other to elections (the last one in particular).
But this comes as no surprise coming from a ultra liberal who is looking for contradictions in everything that has to do with the Creator of the universe. From an atheist and… a “self-made” man who worships his creator.
This is what liberals specialize in and it is a rather easy thing to do - they simply take statements out of context and play with their meaning any way they want to.
Or change the definition - as “gay” instead of “homosexual”. Or “pro-choice” instead of “pro-abortion”... as if it is a “choice” and not a baby.
You use facts only for twisting and you use statistics as a drunken man uses lamp-posts - for support rather than illumination.
Nevertheless - even though you are like an empty envelope without any address on it - do not stop to amuse us and do keep them coming…
“Just like people - especially if one sheep can say “Baaah” in a particularly pleasant manner - they will all follow no matter how big a lie they’ve been told.“
“People have the Bible as a manual on how to live their lives but, being dumb as sheep, they instead think they know better so ...“
Two statements in one post that clearly contradict each other.
