There is not enough room for all to come

In Wednesday’s edition, the Potomac News had three letters about illegal immigration.

Lisa Johnson-Firth of the Immigration & Human Rights Law Group had a predictable position given the name of her group and seems to want to ignore existing federal immigration laws rather than enforce or replace them. As for me, I don’t see much wrong with lowering what we pay for education because as illegal aliens leave the county, it means more funding for other students and other needs. With respect to families being broken up, those acts are not on the Board of County Supervisors for enacting local actions to enforce national laws but on the lawbreakers themselves. As for “loving thy neighbor,” I love my neighbors when they’re neighborly, but I get a little torqued when my neighbors encroach on my house/nation.

William Westhoff also wrote, but I don’t know if we were at the same meeting. This was my first venture to a BOCS meeting and I was impressed by how respectful almost everyone was. The notable exceptions I remember were the gentleman that told everybody to stand up and a lady at the beginning that was sharply adamant against the PWC position. There was no “vile castigation” towards
Supervisor Frank Principi and almost all the citizens were anything but obnoxious.

The third letter was by Michael Hogan. I’m not for handing out guns and while he raised some legitimate issues, the letter’s tone was too harsh for me.

The first act of those who come to America should not be a conscious effort to break our laws. Those who come to America legally can be guests or legal residents and may turn out to be future
Americans, but those who sneak in illegally do not and should not have the full rights of citizens, native or naturalized.

Being an American is a fortunate privilege and while it would be nice if all six billion of our neighbors could enjoy America as we do, the fact is there just isn’t room and we have the right and responsibility to determine who we admit and under what circumstances.

Cobra, you are proof that there are a few degree-holding racists out there. At the risk of repeating myself, endorsement of a resolution to enforce immigration policy is not necessarily racist. Referring to an entire group of people as “trash” and accusing them en masse of murder, rape, etc. has been a tactic of inquisitors, Nazis, Klansmen, and other assorted hate mongers for centuries.

Cobra, you’re a racist against Hispanics, so I guess you and PhDee balance each other out.  You are also both pretty much the same type of people: extremists who think any one that disagrees, even minutely, with your positions fall on the “wrong side.“  Hilarious.

Brother Cummings,
Facts only get in the way for these anti-american apologist on this site. Don’t even waste your breath on the likes of phdeebag. She would sell out America for a $1 to her illegal alien friends. She is also racist towards Hics which I assume she equates to those that live in Manassas. I have a masters degree in Business and she will lecture me on education. Just an old liberal windbag like Ted Kennedy.

cobra, how do you know what’s at St. Elizabeth’s in DC?  Been there as a nut?As for education, I didn’t go to school but one day - and that was when my sister was sick.—Why move from PWC?  I lov e living among hicks and racists.  It reminds me of my youthful home in the South.—I’m glad someone is moving to dying Manassas,  But you fail to mention how many have moved away?  Why?

Concerning the April 29 BOCS hearings, there was one white trash female who claimed to have gone to the fvitst resolution meeting, but had to stand outsie the McCoart Bldg. She claimed she was so frightened. Too many hispanics.  Can’t you imagine what this poor soul suffers when she goes to a mall? Hopefilly, this “ugly American” will nevr travel anywhere. Juszt a other anti-immigration goon and kook.

As I’ve written in previous threads;  In any argument, the person screaming the loudest is usually the most wrong.  I think anyone reading this thread can tell who is the “loudest” and most hysterical about now.

phdeebag & roncharest,
Are you two on the same floor over there at St Elizabeth’s? There is a floor there especially for Traitor mental patients such as you guys. I know it hurts to be on the loosing side but you have to stop crying at some point and move on or out of the county. Again Cindy Sheehan will be going to visit with Fidel and Hugo soon. They have room for both of you Anti-American nut cases. As far as education, your writings reflect your 3rd grade education at best. Hey did you see the Washington Post article about families moving into PW County? One particular family moved here because of the crackdown on illegal immigrants. She stated that it would be much safer community to raise her daughters. But that’s right, you guys would rather have all the illegal murdering, raping, hit & run trash living here vice nice American Families. TRAITORS!!!!!

Chris Cummings,

I suggest you read up on the history of immigration visas and immigration restrictions.  Immigration quotas and visa requirements in the US only started with the Immigration Act of 1924, or Johnson-Reed Act, including the National Origins Act, Asian Exclusion Act.  Restrictions and prohibitions on Asians started with the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which was the first time the US set restrictions on who could migrate into the US.  It was further extended in 1917 by excluding more Asian groups.

Of note, the 1924 act first defined the term “Immigrant.“ Besides specifically excluding all people from specific Asian nations, it set quota limits on people from European nations, but set No Limits on immigration from Latin America (which included Mexico).

All these laws are now commonly considered to have been driven by nativist and xenophobic sentiments of the people at that time.

So the Statue of Liberty does not have any fine print on the bottom of the poem “New Colossus” as at the time she was set out in New York Harbor, we were still a nation that had not defined “Illegal Immigrants.“

If you want to go after me, you need to do your homework first.

Phdee,

I think you’re on to something there, sugesting a statue to Stewart and Letiecq et al.  I’m thinking perhaps a 300 foot representation of a person carrying submachine guns and various other armaments symbolizing a vigilante, made out of razor wire and concrete barricades.

I think that would pretty much represent the America these sorry people want to live in.

Ron Charest where in the “New Colussus” does it say that illegal aliens are welcome? Would you invite a criminal inside your house knowing that he or she was a criminal? As for only caring about me, i would assume that Phdee is profiting off the backs of illegal low cost workers and or their illegal votes. Chris Cummings

The country is not big enough for you and me, and all I care about is me.
