Time to condemn attacks on Fimian

» 45 Comments | Post a Comment

Gerry Connolly’s silence is out of character. In recent weeks, his supporters have flooded local papers with attacks on Keith Fimian. This isn’t news. But many of these letters go beyond attacking Keith on the issues.

These letters insinuate that Keith’s legislative agenda is based on “papal policy.” I am happy to say that the Potomac News is not among the newspapers who have printed this hateful screed. Shame on
those Fairfax papers who have.

What’s more troubling is that my constituents have received robocalls from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee where a woman attacks the beliefs of a Catholic organization to which
Keith belongs.

As a devout Catholic, I am troubled to see this. As an American, and a constituent of the 11th District, I am incensed. It was almost half a century ago that the same bigoted attacks were made on
President John F. Kennedy.

Gerry should not let his supporters attack Keith for his religious beliefs. Issue differences between Keith and Gerry Connolly on taxes, transportation, energy policy and the rule of law are fair game, but
religious affiliation is not. Perhaps Gerry Connolly’s people feel they need to attack Keith’s faith because they know Gerry Connolly is on the wrong side of the 11th district on the issues that matter. I call
on Gerry Connolly to openly condemn attacks on Keith’s faith. The 11th district deserves better.

COREY A. STEWART

Chairman, Prince William Board of County Supervisors

I don’t care what religion a candidate is as long as the candidate doesn’t use those teachings to legislate or enact policy or laws.

Mr. Fimian doesn’t seem to be able to make a clear distinction between his religion and his politics.

Chris, What is wrong with attacking a candidate’s religious beliefs if you believe that candidate will use political office to force you to obey the edicts of his or her religion?
Do you have the courage & integrity to answer the questions? [Yes] Does Keith Fimian
have the courage & integrity? Would you force pregnancy and/or childbirth on the victim of rape or incest? [No] Would you force a child, pregnant as a result of incest to seek permission, from the person who committed the incest, to abort the pregnancy? [No] When a child is born & no father is named, would you require DNA testing of male family members to determine paternity? [Possibly] If the testing indicates incest, would you prosecute the perpetrator? [Possibly]
Do you believe the edicts of any religion invalidate any part of the Constitution of the United States of America? [No]
These are questions all candidates for political office must answer and all citizens should answer. My answers are in the brackets.

Kgotthardt the real problem here is the DNC sent out flyers on two separate occasions attacking Mr Fimian on religion, i received them both. I forwarded them to friends. LOL Chris Cummings

For the sake of politics AND his church, Mr. Stewart should leave his religion out of his politics.  Everyone should.

It sounds Conolly has a campaign management problem.  Then again, we have a county-management problem.  Which is worse?

Mr. Roemmelt:

You be factual. I never mentioned that kGotthardt organized or was even at your political event. Check out your friend’s comments on ANTIBVBL if you want to read for yourself her insulting remarks.

The only way for immigration reform to work is to cut legal immigration after we secure the borders and harsher workplace enforcement and fines. Isn’t it enough that we have the highest legal immigration rates in the world? It sure does look like this nation bends over a little too much to accommodate. We need more time to assimiliate as well new immigrants need to spend more time and learn English as for criminals i. e illegal aliens they need to go back home and come back and do it the right way like my ancestors. If my mom can do it so can yours. If not suffer the consequences. Breaking the law is breaking the law. Identity theft and phony documents should be automatic deportation. LOL Chris Cummings

Whatever! Answer the question. Would you force pregnancy & childbirth on a rape victim? Keith Fimian has already proven his lack of courage & integrity by refusing to answer.

Cobra, you have it so wrong.  I am very opposed to open borders.  Why do you think I would be for them?  Find one statement I have ever made that says I support open borders.  You can’t.  Therefore, you have lied about me.

I would like to see our borders made more secure, not less.  We need to know who is in our country.  That is one reason we need immigration reform.  What we have now is indadequate to our national safety and to our current economic needs.

Cobra, you are a piece of work.

cobra, I will add one more thought. I have stated here time and again I SUPPORTED Corey Stewart over Sharon Pandack for PWC Chairman. The fact that I disagree with Corey on the immigration issue does not make me a Corey hater. I would support him again if Sharon was the opponent.

The world is not all nice and black & white. There are some wonderful gray hues to enjoy if you look hard enough.

You might notice how willow and I disagree on the presidential race but agree on many other topics. I don’t consider willow an “enemy” and I respect his opinions.

Mr. Charest,

Since when did grammar become more important than the issues? Is it because conservatives usually win on the issues that affect most legal immigrant Americans because most people have morals? Or is it because they believe in killing the unborn who have no way to defend themselves like a nice liberal killer. Make love not war, isn’t that one motto? What is the consequence? Abortion? Safe sex? HIV? Higher taxes to pay for the consequences? Keep your religious beliefs awy from me and i will keep mine away from you, enough said. LOL Chris Cummings
