Time to condemn attacks on Fimian

» 45 Comments | Post a Comment

Gerry Connolly’s silence is out of character. In recent weeks, his supporters have flooded local papers with attacks on Keith Fimian. This isn’t news. But many of these letters go beyond attacking Keith on the issues.

These letters insinuate that Keith’s legislative agenda is based on “papal policy.” I am happy to say that the Potomac News is not among the newspapers who have printed this hateful screed. Shame on
those Fairfax papers who have.

What’s more troubling is that my constituents have received robocalls from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee where a woman attacks the beliefs of a Catholic organization to which
Keith belongs.

As a devout Catholic, I am troubled to see this. As an American, and a constituent of the 11th District, I am incensed. It was almost half a century ago that the same bigoted attacks were made on
President John F. Kennedy.

Gerry should not let his supporters attack Keith for his religious beliefs. Issue differences between Keith and Gerry Connolly on taxes, transportation, energy policy and the rule of law are fair game, but
religious affiliation is not. Perhaps Gerry Connolly’s people feel they need to attack Keith’s faith because they know Gerry Connolly is on the wrong side of the 11th district on the issues that matter. I call
on Gerry Connolly to openly condemn attacks on Keith’s faith. The 11th district deserves better.

COREY A. STEWART

blue_doggette,
Typical comment from the anti-American crowd here in PW County. Stewart’s constituents are against illegal immigration. You can spin the story all you want. Legal Hispanics are responsible for their own plight when they harbor illegal immigrants. The fact is the many have family members that are illegal and they left town as to not expose them to possible deportation. The law is the law blue_doggette. You will get a chance to put up a candidate who agrees with your open border stance. Let’s see how they do in a fair and open election which libs will never accept.

Its Gerry Connolly’s responsibility to argue against every letter in the Potomac News on Keith Fimian’s behalf?

Give me a break, Stewart.  You’ve been a tool for a long time.  I didn’t realize you were a whiner as well.

Hmmmmm…how about those Catholic Hispanics who Corey’s constituents attack?  Too bad Corey can’t control HIS constituents.

Chairmen Stewart:

Last week I received four “appalling” campign postcards in my mail from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  I plan on savings these postcards so that students in government class can see firsthand how low politicians will go to get a vote.

I am also a devout Catholic who finds these postcards morally repulsive.  I am disappointed in Chairmen Connolly, who is also Catholic, for not speaking out against this group.

Mr. Fimian, you have my vote.

The writer is a whinning Republican hiding behind the religion card. I note the Republican presidential campaign is doing its best to court the evangelicals and has “issues” that are not national matters such as abortion.  If the writer reads his church’s official newspaper, he would find that the diocese always has a
“shiooing list” of church dogma agenda for the Va. legislature.  Why doesn’t the church just keep it’s mind on its own business, like lying, homosexual priests, sexual predators, etc.
for the writer, the Catholic churchmis morally and ethically bankrupt. And so are he from what I’ve seen.
