Transient Housing Extreme Makeover

Marines who have previously been on Temporary Assigned Duty at Quantico should expect to be housed in a lavish suite on their next visit.
Thanks to the efforts of Bachelor Housing here, this pipe dream is looking more like a reality.
Bachelor Housing has spent approximately $6 million dollars in the past eight years on upgrades to its 143 transient rooms and apartments, said Darriton V. Battle, branch head for Bachelor Housing. This work was done so Bachelor Housing can not only accomplish their main mission of providing lodging to service members and Department of Defense employees on orders here, but also go beyond the requirements and improve the life of Marines and other visitors.
“We always try to give the guests something comparable to outside hotels and in many cases, we do more,“ said Theresa Mackey, the transient billeting manager.
Bachelor Housing has done many upgrades to its three halls and one apartment building on four different locations on base. The changes include dry-walling
all the hallways, giving each room its own bathroom, putting in a 20-station computer lab, wireless internet throughout the rooms and converting two
rooms to be American Disability Act compliant.
All these upgrades have been done while still keeping the price down for customers. The prices range from $26 - $50 a night.
“We provide the best bang for your buck,“ Battle said. “In one night of staying out in town you can stay here for three nights.“
Providing a place that is comfortable and relaxing is essential to Bachelor Housing.
“We want our Marines to stay in a place that feels like home,“ said Mackey. “We take pride in what we do. We are all pieces of a puzzle, and we are
working together to provide the best possible for Marines.“
In the future Bachelor Housing will continue to work with Grunley Construction from Rockville, Maryland, to finish drywalling all the hallways in its transient quarters and finish replacing all the windows.
In the future people will no longer ask did you stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but instead they will ask did you stay at Quantico’s transient quarters last night.
