Prince William board to discuss viewshed protections
Prince William ought to impose regulations to screen certain historical areas in the county from untoward views, according to recommendations from a new Viewshed Preservation Plan to be presented to supervisors Tuesday.
"The county's comprehensive plan required viewshed analysis to provide guidance so as not to negatively impact views to and from the county's Register of Historic Sites," according to background documents to the board. "The purpose of [the study] is to identify the viewsheds … determine the extent of threats to the viewsheds, and craft a strategy to protect these important viewsheds."
The board is due to hold a public hearing on the specifics of the study in January.
In other matters Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the McCoart Administration Building, supervisors will hear separate updates on commercial and economic development in the county.
They are also scheduled to receive a presentation on "Trends in Long Term Care: The Green House."
The Green House model, according to background documents for the board, is a conceptual community where "elders can receive assistance and support with activities of daily living and clinical care" in a manner that differs from traditional nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
The presentation is aimed at setting the stage for supervisors to consider whether the concept could work locally.
At 7 p.m. at the Development Services Building, supervisors will meet with the county's delegation to discuss 2010 legislative priorities.
