Clutch Performer
Battlefield’s Nicole Carte
Eating healthier and drinking more water was the method Nicole Carter adapted for success this season.
And it has worked.
The freshman has been one of the area’s best female runners during this cross country season with five invitational finishes of 31st or better.
Her best invitational showing was a fifth at the Lee Davis meet on Sept. 12. She also finished 15th out of 140 runners in the varsity girls’ race at the Stallion Stampede Cross Country Classic.
“I really like it,” Carter said of her success. “It’s really nice. It was so unexpected.”
With an athletic background that includes soccer and the 400 and 800-meter runs in middle school, Carter has extended her athleticism to a longer form of running.
“I just love running in general,” Carter said. “I just have some endurance and doing this sounded fun.”
Her finishes have put her in position to contend for the Cedar Run title at Wednesday’s district meet.
“I’m just going to try to do my best,” Carter said.
