Clutch Performer
Gar-Field’s Prince Owusu-Mensah
The hill at Occoquan Regional Park’s three-mile mark is where Prince Owusu-Mensah likes to make his move toward the front.
But he also knows that not all competitors are still in contention at that point of the race.
“That’s where people fall out,” he said.
In last Thursday’s Cardinal District race, Owusu-Mensah overcame the obstacle, staying with the leaders to finish third, his best showing in a district postseason race.
“Toward the end, my coach tells me to put it all out there,” Owusu-Mensah said.
It was not surprising seeing him in the top five. Owusu-Mensah placed second at the first district meet at Occoquan in September, finishing behind Cardinal postseason champ Gabe Wentlandt.
