Monica Wright (Forest Park) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Player of the Year Monday for women’s basketball at the ACC’s annual media day held in Greensboro, N.C.
The University of Virginia senior guard led the ACC in scoring last season, averaging 20.5 points per game. She was a first-team all-conference pick a year ago, while setting the school single-season scoring record with 696 points.
This season, she is a preseason candidate for both the Wooden Award and the State Farm Wade Trophy.

A fitting honor to a most deserving Lady and I do mean Lady.  She not only is a great player but the most humble star you could ever meet.  Always polite and mannerly.  Her parents should be proud of not only her accomplishments but of the good person she is.
