There are countless wedding industry professionals available to plan you’re your perfect day. It can be overwhelming but getting to know the vendor and its associations can help.
“Personal consultation, in person or by phone, is always important,” said Cindie Reinhold, editor and publisher of Brides & Weddings of Northern Virginia. “You want to work with vendors who will take the time to get to know you and your wedding day vision. And it never hurts to check a vendor’s bonafides with the Better Business Bureau.”
Many caterers, florists, dance instructors, rental services, gown shops, and others belong to local chambers as well as associations like Shenandoah Wedding Professionals and Hunt Country Celebrations.
Wedding professionals have to meet certain criteria to join these organizations as well as groups such as the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) and the International Special Events Society (ISES). “That can be an indication of vendor experience and expertise,” said Reinhold. “When dealing with your reception site/catering sales professional, ask him/her for referrals. Reception sites have ‘favorites’ and can vouch for those professionals work.”
