Good morning Prince William. Those fabulous folks at Matthew’s Center are planning a fun field trip to the National Zoo on July 29. Volunteers are needed to help chaperon the camp kids on what promises to be a super trip. They also have an ongoing need for van drivers in the afternoons on Monday, Wednesday Friday from just 2:30 to 6 p.m. This wonderful organization works with kids with autism and provides fun summer activities. I know this one of those special opportunities for special volunteers. Please call Kerry at 571-329-7944 to register for any of these events.

The Creative and Performing Arts Center in Woodbridge are gearing up for their next performance in early August. “Having our Say” is a play by Emily Mann that leads us on a compelling autobiographical journey through historical periods of reconstruction, Jim Crow, the Harlem Renaissance and women’s suffrage. Volunteers are needed for both parking and directing guests to their seats. The performances are Aug. 7,8,14 and 15 at Northern Virginia Community College’s Lakeside Theatre. Please call Denise at 703-441-2479 to sign up for this super volunteer opportunity.
Don’t forget that here at the Voluntary Action Center are gearing up for our big dinner dance event — Christmas in July on July 31. Volunteers are needed in several capacities including selling raffle tickets, serving and picking up the salads, keeping water glasses full and helping with raffle. Teens and adults are most welcome from 7 to 10 p.m. We are so excited to have Courtney Robinson from WJLA Channel 7 with us for the evening. This event supports the Un-Trim-A-Tree Holiday Gift Program for needy kids. We’ll have dinner from the Macaroni Grill, dancing by the St. Thomcats, great raffle items with a live and silent auction. All for just $50 a ticket. Just think where you’d like to vacation — is it a beautiful beach in the Caribbean or golf in Scotland or family fun at Disney World? The worldwide timeshare auction item can make your dream vacation come true. Please call Diane at 703-369-5292, Ext. 207, for more information on volunteering and to purchase your ticket. I promise you will have tons of fun.
