The wonderful folks at CRIBS are presenting the Dr. Seuss; it's all about reading during this program Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tall Oaks Center in Lake Ridge. This fun event is to encourage kids to read. Volunteers are needed to assist with games, music, set-up, photography and distributing goody bags. It promises to be a ton of fun. And speaking of neat kids, please take a few moments to nominate a super kid to the Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship Program. Nominations are due by March 15. Kids are rewarded for their creativity, leadership, generosity and initiative. Nominees are divided into two groups ages 6 to 12 and 13 to 18. The local store winners will be given $50 gift cards, the regional winners will be awarded $1,000 scholarships and the 10 national winners will be awarded $5,000 scholarships plus $1,000 given to their favorite non-profit organization. The wonderful guys at the Carteret Mortgage Boys and Girls Club in Manassas still need more flag football coaches for the spring season that runs from April 1 to June 7. The teams are divided by age groups 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-17 for boys and girls. It's time for another volunteer training at Literacy Volunteers of America so please consider helping another adult better their literacy skills. You will be given all the tools needed to be suc-cessful and in these tough times there are so many folks wanting to get that hand-up for a better job. Classes are March 14 and March 28.
