Good Morning Prince William and happy Labor Day weekend.

There is some really fun stuff going on to celebrate a week of service as a tribute to Sept. 11, 2001, including Freedom Center's Volunteer Trail Building Day this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at George Mason, Manassas campus. Volunteers are needed to create the Freedom Center Challenge Course as part of The Mason Center for Team & Organizational Learning. This promises to be a fun day to enjoy the fabulous weather so please call Rabia at 703-993-9779 to register for this event.

Also this weekend, those wonderful folks from Habitat for Humanity are busy with another Brush with Kindness Project. Volunteers are needed Friday for a painting project and on Saturday for a yard clean-up at another property. Please call Joanne at 703-369-6708 for more information.

The Dale City Recreation Center is kicking off Customer Appreciation Week this Saturday with a fun day of activities from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. including free spinning classes, demonstrations on Pilates Allegro Reformer, lectures on health and wellness and lots of other information on fitness resources. They have also included nice discounts for various membership packages to keep you fit and your kids engaged in positive activities. Please call them at 703-670-7112, visit www.pwcparks.org or stop by to learn more about all the activities for Customer Appreciation Week.

This Saturday is also the next Literacy Volunteers tutor training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Together with your skills, kind heart and proper training you can help give another adult reading skills and a path to success in their job and life. Please give these folks a call on Tuesday at 703-670-5702 or visit www.lvapw.org to learn more. This is a fabulous way to be part of the solution.

Hey teens -- Please forgive me for publishing the wrong Web site for those super kids doing super stuff with the Joe 15 Team. Bring your energy, spirit and leadership skills to the table and work on that volunteering resume for college at the same time. Please call Debbie at 703-895-1606 or check out the Web site at www.thejoe15team.org to learn more.

Please mark your calendars because you don't want to miss the opportunity to help the Prince William Special Olympics with their soccer tournament on Sept. 27. The tournament is all day at Pope John Paul the Great High School in Dumfries. Volunteers are needed for soccer set up, skills set-up, referees, ball retrievers, cheerleading and whatever else pops up. As you can see this is a perfect way for your entire family to join in the fun and help make this tournament a terrific success. Please e-mail Crystal at cjackson638@gmail.com to learn more.

Mary Foley is the executive director of the Voluntary Action Center in Manassas.
