YA HEARD: The Grammys, Beyonce's father and a 'tru' diva

»  Comments | Post a Comment

"We keep going back, stronger, not weaker, because we will not allow rejection to beat us down. It will only strengthen our resolve. To be successful there is no other way."

-Earl G. Graves

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards show took place earlier this week and the Grammy committee completely messed up the hip-hop categories once again. Before we get into that, let me say that Beyonce and Taylor Swift stole the show just as they should have. Beyonce took home six Grammys this year as Swift pocketed a cool four herself.

A lot of people try to give Bey the cold shoulder for being so successful for such a long stretch of time, but she is the hardest working person in show business hands down. While six Grammys would be a good Sunday night for any one of us, Beyonce did not receive an award for her best song of the year with "Ego." As for Ms. Swift, her amazing talent is finally becoming a household name in homes above the Mason-Dixon line; not to mention that Kanye's antics at the VMAs has proven to benefit the country starlet quite favorably.

As for the hip-hop/rap categories, where do we begin? Let's start with the fact that Eminem's "Relapse" won album of the year. This guy disappears off the face of the earth for five years, comes back to finally put out an album and waalah -- best rap album. I love him, but "Relapse" was not his finest moment by far.

The committee awarded Jay Z three Grammys for cuts off his "Blueprint 3" album, and the album as a whole wasn't even nominated for Best Rap Album or any album category for that matter. Jay's "Run this Town" won two awards, while his "D.O.A" track pulled in one award for Best Rap Solo Performance. "D.O.A" Grammy worthy? I don't know -- Drake's "Best I Ever Had" may have been a better choice in that category.

All in all, the Grammy's were yet another catastrophe for my beloved hip- hop; the famous artists keep winning and the unknowns remain unknown … we need some fresh blood quickly!

Daddy Knowles

In case you missed it, Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles, has been proven to be the father of his mistress's newborn daughter. According to reports, the 58-year-old Mr. Knowles has now fathered his third daughter.

That's right; Bey Bey now has a baby half sister. Reports of the sleazy situation began to spread late last year when actress Alexsandra Wright filed a paternity suit against Mr. Knowles. These rumors only grew more intense when Mrs. Knowles filed for divorce from her long-time husband shortly thereafter.

There have been no comments made as of yet by any party involved in this matter. Maybe Beyonce will touch on it when she appears on "60 Minutes" this Sunday -- on second thought, I doubt it, but it would make for some very good television though. I can see it now, "Beyonce, how does it feel that after paying for your family's luxurious lifestyle all these years, you will now have to pay for your father's new family as well?' Ouch!

Whatever the outcome of this situation is, I'm sure the latest addition to the family will fair quite well in life thanks to big sis.
