Here's a huge CHEERS to Neighborhood Pride Week in Dale City! Come join in the fun and work to spruce up the Independence Day Parade Route along Dale Boulevard. This wonderful group of volunteers would greatly appreciate your help June 26 and 27. They try to work in teams of six so you can form your own or join another team. · Volunteer Prince William will hold a volunteer reception center training June 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the County Emergency Operations Center. The focus of this training is to learn how to work with volunteers under a great deal of stress in their own lives. We are delighted to have Peggy Sullivan with Turning Points as the trainer for this important life skill training. · The Don Bosco Center is ready for their summer programs. This wonderful organization works with kids in grades five through eight living in and around the Georgetown South community. Volunteers are needed to help with the kids on various activities and field trips. This is a super opportunity for juniors and seniors in high school and of course all of us adults! · The Greater Prince William Community Health Center is going great guns these days with expanded services and volunteers are needed to help with various administrative jobs. This is a hopping place to make you feel good about your service and have a ton of fun as well. Please call Liz at 703-670-8858 to learn more.
· The wonderful folks at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore are looking for a few volunteers to help on the truck picking up donations. It's a neat way to see all the good in our community and flex a couple muscles along the way. · And speaking of trucks, the fun folks at the Benedictine Counseling Services are also looking for a vol-unteer with a truck to pick up items from local businesses. Please call Bruce at 703- 369-3800 for more information. Also Transitional Housing BARN is looking for a volunteer that enjoys working in the garden to keep the flowers and shrubs in tip top shape. Please call Becky at 703- 369-1325 if you can spare just an hour or so a week.
· The Medical Reserve Corps needs more volunteers to support the community public health system. Join this cadre of trained volunteers ready to serve during an emergency and receive all kinds of cool training in the mean time. · And last but certainly not least, the wonderful folks at SERVE are looking for a group of people to pro-vide meals to the residents of the Family Shelter over the July 4th holiday weekend.
