John Loth Jr. had always been drawn to football
In recruiting Kat Terza (Seton ’06) to come play soccer for her at Shenandoah University, head coach Liz Pike knew she was attracting a top-flight talent. Terza had been a standout goalie on the club scene and someone good enough to attract interest from 25 Division I schools coming out of high school.
The Seton Conquistadors swept the Division II state titles at the Virginia Section of Independent Schools state swimming championships this past weekend in Christiansburg. It was the fourth consecutive state title for Seton’s girls, while it was the third straight crown for the boys’ team. The Conquistadors finished sixth overall in girls and seventh overall in boys.
In the tight economy of Jim Koehr’s world, time must be well spent. There is little room for anything extra and he has no tolerance for idleness.
That Seton’s Conquistadors won the team title at the Delaney Athletic Conference championship at St. Michael the Archangel Saturday night is hardly surprising, given that Seton won the regular season title for the 17th straight year.
Prep hoops notebook
The Seton Conquistadors enjoyed a super weekend of their own this past weekend by winning the Virginia Section of Independent Schools Invitational, which features all the Division II schools Seton will face in two weeks at the VSIS state championships.
Despite a disparity in terms of overall record and the level of opponents both are accustomed to playing, Osbourn Park and Seton both have similar goals for their seasons—to continue to develop as a team.

After a stellar high school career at Seton High School that resulted in his being named the News and Messenger’s Swimmer of the Year the past two years, Jameson Hill’s performances for QDD Aquatics this summer have qualified the University of Georgia freshman for berths in the United States Olympic Swimming Trials.
