I am writing this in response to the letter written on Feb. 19 by Laura Spillane,“New elementary school not needed in Nokesville.”
Ms. Spillane doesn’t speak for the entire Nokesville community. As for myself and many parents and other community members that I have spoken to, we say that Nokesville is in need of a new elementary school.
Nokesville Elementary School is not closing down, it’s simply relocating around the corner.
Having a new school doesn’t mean that the “close -knit community” is going to be broken or tarnished.
The school is so outdated and falling apart that a new school is necessary. There are continuing problems with the building structure, plumbing, heating,mold/mildew, outdated kitchen and equipment and students safety that needs to be addressed. It’s not the building structure that makes the school what it is. It’s the people inside the building that make Nokesville Elementary School a proud school of excellence
We have the finest principal, outstanding teachers and staff. The “NEW” school can still be a school of excellence.
