Today there is a new type of apathy

»  Comments | Post a Comment

In the past, many of us have felt apathetic in presidential races because neither candidate was inspiring. When it came down to the robotic Al Gore versus the thick George W. Bush, who do you choose?

When it came down to FrankenKerry or a not so curious George, who do you get excited about? Today, could it be that we discover a new type of apathy? In McCain, we get the best of the Republican party. That’s why they hate him. He is uncompromising. He is a man of principle. In Barack Obama, we have the modern equivalent of RFK. Literally, I watched historical tapes of RFK and Obama even looked like him.

It transcended the racial difference. While I am concerned about McCain’s temper and Obama’s international viewpoints, they both are incredible men. This could lessen voter turn out as well. Many people will feel like they have no one to vote against. As an example, I didn’t vote for Kerry and Gore, I voted against Bush. McCain is not anyone that you vote against.

Neither is Obama. I hope that people do turn out because both of these men deserve it. We have a real discussion facing us about our countries future. We have real differences between both men. As long as Hillary does not sneak back in it, this should be an incredible race!
