Day camp teaches life saving skills

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The new Prince William American Red Cross Summer Youth Experience "Be Ready! Be Prepared!" is more than a typical day camp program--it's a real life saver.

The weeklong activities and training will take place July 14-18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (with after care available) at the Stone House-Costello Park in Manassas Park.

T'weens and teens ages 11 to 15 will lean life saving skills; earn Red Cross certifications in first aid, baby sitting, CPR and Pet Fire Aid; and receive training in disaster preparedness and water safety in a seriously fun envi-ronment.

The program is specifically designed for youth that are ready to take on more responsibility and don't want the summer to past by without an achievement to show for it. In addition to earning training certifications, youth are invited to join the Prince William Red Cross Youth Corps and assist Red Cross volunteers and staff with community projects and earn community service hours throughout the year.

The session is limited to 15 youth and the registration fee of $225 includes a Be Ready! Be Prepared t-shirt, daily lunch and snacks and all training materials.

For further details or to register call 703-368-4511.
