Award winning vocalist, Kelly Glyptis, will be featured in a solo vocal recital on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Manassas St. Thomas Church.
Glyptis, a 2007 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, is a vocal performance major at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington.
Winner of the Dean's Scholarship, Glyptis studies with the renowned Dale Moore and two time Grammy Winner Sylvia McNair.
The solo concert will feature a program of Broadway selections and classical arias and art songs.
Glyptis trained with the Washington National Opera Institute for Young Singers and made her debut in Rome in 2005 with the Operafestival di Roma in Le Nozze di
Figaro and in Suor Angelica.
She recently appeared in Les Contes d'Hoffman in Indiana and is appearing locally with Gray Ghost Theatre and Dominion Stage.
Her early training was with the Pied Piper Theatre in Manassas where she preformed in many lead roles including Nancy in Oliver!, Mother Abbess in the Sound of Music, and the Cat in the Hat in Seussical the Musical.
She will be accompanied by Meredyth Stirling and directed by Graham Clark. The church is located at 8899 Sudley Road. The concert is free and for more information call 571-331-6586.
