I’m a citizen of Manassas and, more importantly, a citizen of Northern Virginia. As such, I’ve been extremely disappointed that Frank Wolf has not taken a stand about global warming and the effects it has on everyone.
Climate change not only affects people, but also every living thing on this earth. As people of this great nation we need to take a stand to try and reverse the course of global warming. This just doesn’t need to be done for our generation but the generations of people yet to come. Representative Wolf is in a position to help make a change in our environment, but has yet to take a stand on global warming.
As a result of global warming many seen and unforeseen consequences may happen by the middle part of this century. We are one of the top nations in developing technology and yet we are the world’s biggest polluter. Right now we are able to enjoy our environment by running, hiking or hanging out. I want future generations to be able to enjoy these types of activities. Yet, if we remain on the course we’re on, we could see widespread climate changes causing severe droughts, food shortages and floods because of rising sea levels. We need to cut our emissions by 80 percent, like top scientists say,
to avoid widespread climate change. Some people are already taking steps to help, such as driving less, changing light bulbs and buying energy efficient appliances, but that’s not enough.
It’s time for us as citizens to take a stand and tell Congress to make global warming a priority. Our elected officials, such as Representative Wolf, need to stop making promises and excuses and start
making changes. I want to hear how they intend to fix this problem to make the environment, as a whole, more healthy to our communities and families. I speak for myself on this matter but I know many
feel the same way.
